People notice the difference between the two pirates. Trust me. lol
The ride sucks in WDW but you gotta admit the queue is cool.

Well turning radii being what they are on the boat system and all there is only so much they can squeeze into the building...and there is only so much building they can squeeze onto the lot. So a great architect is still going to have the physical limits as a burden.

WDW can move backstage areas by the RoA canal and xpand PoTC's building and add show scenes...but for all that money and hassle is it worth it? Not by a long shot.

This isn't "to to squeeze a building outside the berm and a queue inside"...this is the "system has limits and the space is tight".

These are the people who go to MGM looking for Jaws and say they went to "MGM, EPCOT and Disney" and who call it Disney World and say it came first. I doubt they are even smart enough most of the time to notice less scenes.

I'll give you that. People will notice missing boobs.

Except that once outside the berm they were down the first waterfall. If the point was to go down the waterfall to get to the days of the ransacking Pirates how would they explain a grotto after the waterfall? And once outside the berm they could replicate what DL's Pirates had...and people wanted DL's Pirates. To most people the live Pirate scenes are what mattered.

And many of you keep referencing "outside the berm". Here is what it is.

Re: I have a question about Pirates of the Caribean?

Mk's was built how it was and there is a 99.999999999% chance that the track will never be expanded. To the average visitor, as long as they get the meat of the attraction (AA's, Pirate battles, the prisoners) they could care less if they're missing a couple of static scenes. If they do care they're probably not the average visitor, they're a bit of a disney fanatic. You can think about the "situation" this way too, DL's Jungle Cruise doesn't have all the temple scenes, MK does. People who go to MK a lot say it gets the cold shoulder while it's vice versa for people who go to DL. I think we have to settle with the fact that they're different, and different is okay. (That kind of sounds like some lame 2nd grader logic, but it's true.)

Yep.. you hit it.. pirates show building backs adventure way.. which backs the train... so what? They have a cave in dl for the train... and could camo the building easy with trees... (you can see backstage easily at WDW right now on the train and monorail anyway...)

It wouldn't hurt the WDW RR to have a little more scenery, even if it is a fake rock tunnel. If there is anything I've learned from disneyland, it's that space problems can be solved with just a little ingenuity.

Well origionally WDW's was never going to get the refurb disneyland was getting origionally. But WDW insisted that they wanted to do it. So disney gave them the green light but with nowhere near the same funding Disneylands was given. I do think WDW's needed somthing to spice it up seeing that well they have the worst pirates out there. So technicly they didnt get "shafted" because they were never going to get it in the first place. They should be happy that they are getting anything at all. I honestly think this refurb is bad for WDW's pirates in the first place. Because they had to remove so many crucial element that are in Disneyland. They removed the talking skull and the finale scene that made WDW's different. So we will see how WDW's turns out.

one thing I hope they do is raise the volume of the Jolly Roger near the drop... I can't hear him at all.

Well, as far as I've read WDW is getting restored sound and new speakers and the Disneyland sound has been getting rave reviews. I'm excited. PIRATES is one of my all-time favorites and although I'm not crazy about the movie additions, I'm looking forward to the rehab.

WDW is supposed to be having a soft opening today. Anyone confirm, deny? Nobody has said anything.

I was not either but seeing DL's in video I have to say it looks well done.

Um as far as I know it was WDW's version that was going to get Jack Sparrow originally beacuse more visitors to florida complained why the ride didnt have anything to do with the movie. It was only later they decided to update both DL and WDW versions.
