Pics from our August trip to the World

You'll notice it's heavy on the food, which is by design.

    Chef's Table at V&A's: http://gallery.atpic.com/7267
    Citrico's: http://gallery.atpic.com/7274
    California Grill: http://gallery.atpic.com/7275
Night Time at the Grand: http://gallery.atpic.com/7276
    Misc Food: http://gallery.atpic.com/7279

More may be forthcoming, if I can get around to cleaning them up. My photog skills are weak, so many just can't be rescued.

Well, I didn't take pics at Tusker house, Beaches & Cream, Cape May Cafe, and so on. A burger, or salad, or sandwich- while tasty- is probably pretty recognizable by the vast majority of WDW guests. Some of the more "exotic" dishes aren't, and I wanted to share those.

We do this kind of trip only once a year, so we do it up right. We were married at WDW, and held our reception in the Private Room @ V&As, which is why we return to enjoy many of the same spots.

That's the problem with expensive food. They put like one little thing on a plate and call it a meal. I'd have to eat fifteen of those things to get full. lol

Wow, those are some nice-looking dishes. One question, looking at the Cona Coffee picture, how the heck do you get the coffee out?

    Thanks for sharing!

Those are.... the most interesting pics I've seen.

I'll stick with my usual counter services places and the occastional visit to the Crystal Palace. I'm cheap.

    Don,
This does a better job of explaining it than I ever could- http://www.coffeestorehouse.com/Sub_coffeemaker.htm

    It's quite interesting to watch.

    Kcnole,
As for small portions...well...the general American style of eating is to load up a plate and dive in, eating as quickly as possible. I know that's how I eat at my local Taco Bell. Hence we have 3X as many antacids/indigestion medicines on our shelves than any other country (not to mention our obesity problems). Plus we don't converse as much, but that's another story...

Eating in a more Europeans style (yeah, I'm generalizing here), if you space that same food out over, say 2-3 hours, you'll find it's quite satisfying. Your brain has time to figure out that you are full and tells you when to quit eating. Next time you are eating out, try setting down the fork in between bites and you'll notice that you can really savor the food (at those prices, I'm savoring every dang bite), and you feel full with less food mass.

The Chef's Table is 10 complete courses. And you're right, each dish is pretty small. But add them up in all their gluttonous richness, pair them with a full glass of wine each, fold in some tasty baguettes and coffee, and you really can't leave hungry.

Thumbs up Re: Pics from our August trip to the World

I would have to agree with amw5g. It may not look like much, but it does indeed add up to a VERY filling meal.
My family treated my brother and sis-n-law to dinner at V&A for their 10th anniversary last year. They had a blast! They came back to the hotel room very stuffed and said it was the most extraordinary dinning event that they've ever experienced. In fact, they are going back this year as well (they live 3 hours away).
Now, I've grown up with my brother, so I know how much he can put away (almost as much as I can ). So when he tells me he could not eat another bite by the 8th course, I gotta believe him.
One day I hope to have dinner there and experience a 5-star restaurant in all its glory!
