A MNSSHP question!

My fiance and I just booked our WDW tickets for our honeymoon! Woot! We bought tickets for MNSSHP for Halloween night. Can someone point me toward any information on the limitations for guest costumes?
We have two awesome costumes we'd like to wear, but I'm not sure WDW would allow them. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: A MNSSHP question!

This is what the paper that my tickets came with reads:

Costumes> Children are encouraged to attend the party in costume.
For the safety of your child and others, please adhere to the guidelines below.

Halloween costumes should not:
  • Obstruct the guest's view or interfere with the ability to board/unload from attractions and/or the Walt Disney World Resort transportation system (including monorails, ferry boats and motorcoaches.
  • Drag on the ground.
  • Contain sharp or pointed objects or material that may accidentally strike another guest.
  • Be offensive to other guests.
  • Contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
And from my own experiences last year it does not have to be a Disney character either. My daughter wants to be Wonder Woman this year and so her sister will be Supergirl, not very Disney is it? But that's what she wants.

Re: A MNSSHP question!

Sorry, for repeating myself here but "Use common sence and you'll be fine" For those who do not posess common sence that basically means: No weapons, costumes that will not get tangled up in rides, nothing that will hit or hurt anyone and keep it G rated and you'll be fine.

Works for me, but then I'm not the one that counts.

Re: A MNSSHP question!

I guess my main concern was whether or not we could wear masks. However... our costumes would have pointy things (well, semi pointy things), also, I don't want to scare any little ones on their special night.

We'll come up with something that makes more sense. Meanwhile, here's what we WOULD have worn: (that's me at the bottom, and my fiance on the upper right)

Ummm... Wow! Those are SOME costumes! Now before I say this please, please, please, don't take it the wrong way...those are fabulous, well made and detailed costumes but they're just not right for MNHHSP. They even remind me of Maleficent's goons. Again, excellent costumes that I can tell you spent a lot of time and effort on!

I believe you have to keep it in check and Disney-like. LIke wearing those disney character costumes they sell on property or toned down little outfits, like devil horns and silly little things like that. Macabre or scary stuff is not allowed as far as I know. Also, I believe masks were not allowed as well... or was that at TDL???

Re: A MNSSHP question!

I hate asking this after everyone else has asked...but would my wife be ok wearing one of the Disney produced Cinderella costumes or is that a no-no (she wants me to go as Prince Charming to complement her)?

Re: A MNSSHP question!

That dress (link) would not be allowed. Other park's charecters are ok. Those in the photos would be not allowed as well. Come up with something else.

Re: A MNSSHP question!

I agree with the above.

You also need to be able to get on rides, etc without being restricted. So no blow up costumes, maskes, etc.

We are still trying to come up with something good for when we are there.

If you are talking about the one in the Disney catalog, I saw someone wearing that one and the matching Prince Charming last year. From my own experience there really isn't anything too elaborate that isn't allowed unless it goes directly against the rules as listed in the costume guidelines that come with your tickets. I saw some very good costumes last year that rivaled Disney's own costume dept and the cast members were actually giving these people special treatment. I saw them bring in two guests dressed as Sally and Mayor from NBC through the back door of the character tent last year so they didn't have to wait in line.

Kind of off-topic, but it just occured to me. How did someone pull off the Mayor costume without a mask or a suit that would make it difficult to get on the rides?

He didn't have a mask, his face was painted and he was a very thin mayor. But overall it was an excellent costume. His hat and suit were perfect. I wish I had taken a picture. I kind of thought it was strange that he just didn't do Jack since he was so thin....
