The Dino-Sue in Animal Kingdom is not he actual dinosaur bones. They are just imitations. I wasn't sure if you knew this or if you didnt , the wording kind of confused me.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure Disney doesn't own the actual bones
But anyway it looks like you had a fabulous time, I am so jealous!!
WE are going to stay at a cabin at Fort Wilderness in a year.
"Jammin' in the Jungle to the Rythem of One!" (you have to jump on "one")
Sorry, i use to work at AK and we'd dance to the parade if we got off early enough.
I miss Rafiki's!! (That's where I worked) I love hearing when people enjoyed it
Rats another double post. That's twice today.
Heh, I am just messing things up right and left today. You may very well be correct.
In terms of Dino Sue, I was just going off of what the guidemap said and I quote:
I guess my brain just inferred that that meant they had the actual skelleton and not a reproduction, but now that I reread it, that description is kind of misleading. I kind of wondered at the time how wise it was to display something that valuable outdoors. Duh!Check out the largest, most complete T-Rex ever found!
I've always known Rafiki to be male. In the movies he's voiced by Robert Guillaume (the guy who played Benson back int he early 80's).We even got to meet the Rafiki him/herself. (I can never figure out if Rafiki is male or female, in the videos there at Conservation Station he sounds male but in the Broadway production of The Lion King Rafiki is portrayed by a woman. So maybe Rafiki is transgender? Who knows!)
lisaboo.. the pictures were great! thanks for taking the time to type it all up! The pictures of the holloween party (which I've never attended) where great too.
How was the weather during the week?
The weather was hot and humid for the most part. Probably low to mid 90's with about 60% humidity. No real rain to speak of except a few sprinkles on Day 6 for about five minutes.
Oh one thing I forgot to mention about the Cast Members at WDW. I had always heard that in comparison to DL they weren't as talented, professional or friendly. In my experience that wasn't the case at all. Overwhelmingly the CMs at WDW were outstanding and often went above and beyond to make guest's experiences magical. From the concierge CM who told us that while we were in front of her we were what mattered most to the DVC CM at the Polynesian who had Goofy wish me a Happy Birthday, they were fantastic.
Oh and confirmation that you are absolutely correct. The actual bones are at The Field Museum in Chicago.
But, just so I can feel a little better about my misunderstanding, I asked Geoff if he had assumed that they were the actual bones as well and he said that he had. So, I wasn't the only one. So if two college educated adults felt that the wording was ambiguous then we probably aren't the only people who are mislead by Disney's wording of the exhibit.
Great trip report, thanks for sharing and I'm glad your lifelong dream came true!![]()
