Mnsshp?

We were looking at the pictures and reading the reports about MNSSHP and thought it might be fun to go after all. We were wondering if it is too late to buy tickets or not? Do they sell tickets on the day of the event?

If it is possible to go what is a recomended parade watching area and how many hours in advance should we wait to watch it in a good area? Also does anyone who has been to this event recall show and parade times?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Mnsshp?

tickets are are still sold the day of as long as they are not sold out (but if you buy them before 9am or so the day of the party... you do save a little bit of money... not too much, but it will buy you lunch)

As was mentioned, you can get tickets day of at guest relations, as long as they are not sold out.

WARNING - SEMI SPOLIER AHEAD

You should know this if you read any of the sites / news - the parade starts with a headless horseman riding along the parade path. He (or she?) comes by about 15 minutes before the posted parade start time. So, make sure you are in position if you want to try and grab a photo (not easy in the dark). You will hear the announcements before he comes by. I would be in position 40 minutes before the posted start time to get a decent seat (on the rope)

END OF SEMI - SPOILER

As far as parade vewing sites. When you pick your spot, look up across the street from you. There are a number of light stanchions set up, and there are lights on top of most of the buildings. If you are across from these lights, you will get a glare that makes it hard to see (and even harder to take pictures). If you are UNDER these lights, with them at your back, they work to your advantage.

Parade 1 we were in the center court in front of the castle, looking down Main Street. We thought we would catch the parade as it came around the bend, making a left to head down Main Street. Well, there is one of those stanchions over by that popcorn / ice cream stand that is there. We were allmost blind.

Parade 2 we were in front of the Country Bear Jamboree (with the lights at our backs). It worked out a lot better. The lights served to illuminate the parade. One of the cute things that happend over here was as the parade was starting, Bullseye came out. Everyone was paying attention to the start of the parade, so he started "horsing" around to try and get attention. He was mugging, and posing, and dancing to the "Boo to You" song. I found it very funny. He kept pointing in my direction because I think I was the only one watching him.

The fireworks are a 180 degree show - they shoot off all around the back perimiter of the park. However .... the best viewing is still right in front of the Castle.

Parades were at 8:15 and 10:30
HalloWishes (fireworks) were at 9:30
Villians Mix and Mingle (which we did not see) are at 7:45, 9:00, 10:15 and 11:15
There are two dance parties that run all night. We went to the one in Ariels Grotto - which had Chip and Dale dancing with the kids (and adults) while DJ Sir Herald Mix-A-Lot spun tunes (I have videos, no pictures) There is also one over in Tomorrowland with Stich

A lot of the attractions are open - I can list them if you want, but its really just Presidents, COP, and the Tiki Room that are closed. (Swiss Family Treehouse at 11:30 in the pitch black is an interesting thing)

There are LOTS of character meet and greets. The lines look LONG but they do move fast. We were there on Tuesday 10/17. It was not crowded. Not empty either, but really not crowded. It thins out a lot after the fireworks are over.

All in all it is worth the extra money. And the park does look really cool at closing with fog, and lighting, and spooky music.

We also got a "magical moment" during this, and were taken inside the control tower for Space Mountain and got to sit with the ride operators as they explained the control board and showed us all the RI cameras. I was not allowed to take pictures though. This is not going to happen to everyone of course, but I just throw it out there for info.

Here is a picture I took with the lights in front (across) from me. See them blazing in the sky.

And now here is a shot with them BEHIND me. Notice how there is no glare, and how the parade is better lit (and the people across from me all have light in their faces) That white ball is not a floodlight, it indicates a candy station. It does not "shine" is just glows, so its not causing a big glare.

BUY YOUR TICKET IN ADVANCE! You will save money as they are more expensive on the day of the event. Keep in mind the party on the 31st is already SOLD OUT. Tickets were still left for the other parties before that Halloween... but HURRY!!!! Time is running out!

Re: Mnsshp?

Actually, if you watch the parade near the beginning in Frontierland then the Headless Horseman is only about 5 minutes in front of the parade. Maybe less. He just goes so much faster than the floats that by the time he is riding down Main Street then he is 15 minutes ahead of the floats. There weren't many people watching the parade in Frontierland so we were able to just stop when we saw the Horseman ride by and got a pretty good spot.

Definitely buy your tickets ahead of time if you can.

Didn't even think of that, but it makes perfect sense. I agree, get your tickets before if you can - they are cheaper and you are sure to get them. You can call and order them and then pick them up at the park.

Re: Mnsshp?

I just wanted to say thank you for all the advice! We didn't end up going because our son's grandparents want to be there when he goes to MK for the first time but will keep everything in mind for next year!

Oh yes, keep it in mind! I LOVE Halloween at WDW and MNSSHP is a HUGE part of that love! (Food & Wine at Ep-ity-cot is another) along with crowds, weather, etc.

Re: Mnsshp?

It totally depends on who you go with. In all I ended up going twice this year, once I loved it, the other I hated it. Go figure.

I wish I could go for Halloween. Stupid School. Hopefully I'll get to sneak away for the next Invasion at least for a few days. I've only met a few people from MC, and I really would love to meet more.

you could have gone three times but were too busy to join several of the micechatters. that could have been fun. I know they had a good time. I am thinking next year I might go. I thought it was more for kids but it sounded like adults were having as much fun as the kids. and the amount of candy my two came home with was amazing. There was enough to give half of it away.

I agree. It was a lot of fun...but I think California is next, but still in the planning stages.
