Nice Job Trekkie, thanks for the report! You do wear regular clothes once in while?

Re: WDW Invasion--Trekkie Dad's pictorial report

Since our first trip to WDW in 1999, our favorite park there has always been Epcot. That's why we like to stay at the Beach Club. Epcot is right outside our door. And this first day started with an early entry.

We headed straight for Soarin'--a favorite of ours at DCA. The movie is exactly the same, but the outside queue is different, and the preshow leaves out the minor detail of it being filmed in California. "Welcome to Soarin'. [long pause] My name is Patrick...." The we went on the boat ride.

Then we went on Mission: Space.

After some hesitation, we decided to go Orange. After all, we don't suffer from motion sickness. I used to love the spinning rides at carnivals, and we don't have any of the other problems mentioned in all the warnings.

The ride "stations." I got to be the engineer.

Oh. My. God. What a ride! We couldn't get enough of it. By the time the week was over, we had ridden it five times and done every station at least once. Jimmie celebrated by buying a "Space" T-shirt after the first ride, and I got my trinkets later in the week.

We had also picked up FPs for Test Track, which we used after ridind M:S. (Test Track is fun and fast, but M:S is our favorite.) Before long, it was time to show up for our first meet of the trip. We did not see any Mice Chatters at MNSSHP, had not traveled with any others, nor did we encounter any before the meet. So it was great to see so many "old" friends there--and to make new friends in this new venue.

Dusty seems to be enjoying the brisk autumn weather in Florida.

A cup of Beverly was being passed around and people were wretching at the taste. When it got to me, I took a taste and asked if I could finish it. It reminds me of a liqueur that I brought back from the Czech Republic in 1993. Same stong herbal taste. (Only the liqueur is 76 proof and burns a little going down.)

And there is this cool fountain nearby.

Dusty had made a group reservation at the Biergarten in Germany, so we decided to take the Friendship along the way.

Here is the clock striking twelve

    Chernabog shared his "Pfeffernüsse"

    Inside the Biergarten

As you can see the MCers were having quite a time. When the group broke up, Jimmie and I headed for Norway

where we rode Maelstrom. Then it was back to Mission: Space for our second ride. No waiting. They couldn't even fill the entire ride on the orange side. What are people afraid of?

After that, we walked back to our room at the Beach Club and rested up for an evening of dining at the California Grill, followed by another meet at Pleasure Island.
Have bicycle, will ride. Finished 2012 with 10,089 miles, 683 hours, and 482,000 feet of elevation gain.
    2013: 201 rides, 8171 miles, 544 hours, 480K feet.

As much as I'm enjoying the pics, it's practically CRIMINAL to post so many pics of MC'ers and not identify them! I never get to any of the meets, and would love to put faces with the names. Thanks!

Re: WDW Invasion--Trekkie Dad's pictorial report

    OK, Tuesday night:

After resting, Jimmie and I hopped on the bus for the MK so we could transfer to the monorail to the Contemporary Resort. When Jimmie had made reservations at the California Grill, she told them it was our anniversary (It's actually not till 12/18, but we were celebrating early.), so they greeted us with glasses of champagne. While we were too early for fireworks, I got some good sunset shots from the 15th floor.

We asked the waiter to take a picture of us

and he brought us an extra dessert.

After dinner, we still had time to join some Mice Chatters at the Adventurer's Club. Here are a couple of shots from the balcony entrance.

The shows were held in the "library." The first was a "radio broadcast" that required lots of audience participation.

At the end of the show, we were escorted back into the main salon.

The second show featured some highly exaggerated stories and the awarding of the "Balderdash Cup."

We didn't stay for a third show, as we were short on sleep and had another big day in Epcot ahead of us. Kungaloosh!

    KUNGALOOSH!!
    that Adventuer's Club was Fabulous!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
