Has anyone had Lunch in the Castle at Magic Kingdom?

Hello,

I'm going to Disney World Jan 14 - 20 and have a reservation for lunch in the Castle at the Magic Kingdom. Just wondering if anyone has eaten there for lunch and how was it? I've had breakfast there before and it was great! We also have reservations at the Coral Reef and Mamma Melrose.

We had lunch and dinner there a long time ago. The atmosphere is great and it's a nice menu. It's a special feeling to be there.

Just so you know, it used to be that lunch and dinners at the castle were a special, not-quite-dressy occasion, but for the past year now all meals are served as character Princess experiences with children crawling the walls and free photographs with the girls, etc.

If this is not a crowd your group will fit into, consider dining elsewhere.

Righto. And back a little further still in the very earliest years as King Stefan's Banquet Hall...it was even mostly a pretty dressy place (but no firm dress code), and was marketed as more of an adult fine-dining "Prime Rib Restaurant." People went back to their hotel rooms to change before dinner! No characters at all.

In fact, the gentleman that helped design the original operation of King Stefen's before it opened, and was its first Manager...was Roger Craig...who also previously helped set up and was Club 33's first Manager!

I had dinner there last year and it was awesome. Cinderella was in the waiting area, and greeted us (we were the only family in the room!) and we took some pictures with her. There weren't any characters roaming the dining room except for the waiters, haha.

I have never eaten there, but I have wanted to! It seems wonderful! I think it would/should be a nice experience, eating in the CASTLE Have fun!

Had lunch there with the family in Feb. and all of us (2 kids, 2 adults) really enjoyed it! Food was great, show was fun, character greetings were nice. One of our fondest memories of a trip that has many fond memories. We'd love to, no strike that, we will definitely do lunch there again!

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to go. It's been 2 years since I've been to DIsneyWorld and I know they've added a few new things! I'm taking a friend who has never been there and thought lunch in the castle would be a great thing to do.

I had lunch there with my ex. It was great. It was thrilling to be inside the castle eating a meal. Really cool.
I recommend it.
I needed to make reservations 3 months in advance though...

ORDDU: My sisters and I have had the same dubious pleasure of eating within the banquet hall, as well. However, I must say they do much too good of a job when it comes to hiding Prince Charming. When we were there, I excused myself from the dinner table--only to become desperately disappointed at not being able to find a single clue as to the whereabouts of that dashing hunk!! I must have visited every single tower and used magic to unlock the doors to every secret room, only to be met with one disappointment after another. Why else should a desirable witch--like myself--even want to eat there without a handsome prince to dine with?!

I haven't been there since it changed to all character dining, but it was always a must when I went. Simply a great atmosphere and some pretty tasty food. Of course, as Cmash said, it is overpriced, but it's worth it to be in there, in my opinion.

The Coral Reef, on the other hand, is the one that I would personally worry about. That is definitely overpriced, and I wasn't impressed with the food at all.

Last time I had lunch at the King Stephan's Banquet Hall was back in 1979. I remember the knifes we used were so dull.. as if they had been in use since the medieval ages. But honestly, you won't catch me doing a character meal restaurant at all now a days. I detest the idea of capitalizing on the characters to over inflate prices on so-so food and therefore, I boycott them places.

I ate breakfast there w/my family in 2001. Good food. I have pics & think of that trip b/c it was my very 1st trip to WDW. I've been to Disneyland & will be going next summer for the 1st time since 1994!
