Everest Construction vs. Concept Art Comparison

Okay, I know I'm on a "non-posting time" but I thought this was so cool, I just had to share it with ya.

It's a comparison of Everest from a current photo, and concept art that was mixed with a photo of the landscape pre-everest.

I did this myself, though the concept art photo was done by Disney for one of the Press Photos.

    Anyway, here ya go!

First, Current photo (it's mixed and transformed and blended into the concept art and the the photo that was pre-everest, but the construction part is real.)

Now, is a mix of the current photo, the photo that was pre-everest, and the concept art.

And this is the concept art on top of the photo that was pre-everest.

    Neat comparison eh?

Very nice job you did there!! I never realized how well hidden the helix drop would be behind all that foliage.

Very well done, Bill. I agree, if they do add trees in front of the mountain, the helix would be well hidden which is good because personally the more the track is hidden, the more curious and interested prospective riders will be. Not to mention it won't sway the nervous riders away, which allows the "give it a shot" perspective for them.

Yes, it is from the Flame Tree...

And not sure if the trees will ever be put in...

Concept art is often different in terms of trees and such.

I think the big drop will be covered with bamboo to add to the theming and to hide it more. This could very well be one of the best and most detailed attractions yet.

That is correct, the bottom of the main drop will be covered with thick bamboo. However, guests should be able to see the top of the main drop without any trouble.

This is the first high speed drop on a roller coaster ever visible to normal guests walking in the park in WDW.

Hey, great job. I'm not 'up to date' with WDW going-ons. So this is really interesting to see. I hope I make it to the WDWR some day, btw, when is this ride going to open?

The official date is set for Spring of 2006 but it could soft open as early as January. (Note how I stress could...as in don't base plans on it being open then).

Current schedule says it will be open in Jan... soft openings in Dec. I find that hard to believe, but that is what the Orlando Paper reported.

Also, it seems Speck at WDWmagic has posted these photos without giving me credit, thinking it is right of him, or that it will just tick me off. Since I no longer post at WDWmagic, I'll just say this. "Well, SPECK, I couldn't be happier! You spread my work, and that's what counts. It's not about the person, it's about the product! Perhaps you'll learn that someday. Ha!"

Anyway, I can't wait to ride!

None of the official releases give an official date (just 2006). It could open in Jan, but I don't see the official opening until April 22nd with Soft openings maybe a month or two earlier. This is just my guess though.

As for WDWMagic, would you like me to give you credit for the pics there?
