Best spot to watch the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights?

    Happy Holidays people!

I'll be visiting Disney MGM on Jan 1st, and the first thing that came to my mind was where is the best spot to watch the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights?

BTW How are the crouds @ MGM that day?

There is no place to watch them from besides the NY Street. Its not a show or a parade (though apparently everyone thinks it is). It is a giant street covered in over 6 million lights. You will (and need to) walk all around the Big City Streets to see the lights and all the displays. Be sure to catch the lighting of the lights though. They are listed as running 6 to 8 pm every day but get there at at least 5:30 for I've seen them come on as early as quarter to six.

You find out where they start, and slowly walk down to the other end of the street. Walk slowly because every 20 mintues or so, they dance, and it is fun to watch.

Anywhere on the Streets of America is a wonderful spot to see the lights. I just came back, and can say that I spent a full hour watching the lights, and I would have loved to stay longer. They light the streets at 5:30, or at least they did the day I was there. There was an official announcement and a telling of the history behind the lights starting at 5:25. Every 15 minutes the lights "dance", and it is quite a sight to see. They'll stay on until about 9 or so, but try to go early, because the post-Fantasmic crowds make it suddenly extremely crowded back there.

The lights dance every 12 minutes, and the best spot to see them is either at the cross roads of the street or at the ends of NY Street. Enjoy. The crowds should be horrible that day though.

the crowds shouldn't be the least busy on jan 1 because people like to watch football and parades. the worst days though for any of the parks will be next week till new years eve. good luck. I wouldn't go near any theme park in florida until after new years IT's a zoo.
