Memories at Walt Disney World

Do you ever get choked up at Walt Disney World? Do you get a lump in your throat when you see Cinderella Castle for the first time all over again on that steamboat cruise over the Seven Seas Lagoon? Do you ever get the hairs on the back of your neck standing up when Mickey defeats the villains in Fantasmic?

My mum always has a tear in her eye when we watch IllumiNations, and whatever display is at MK. What do you get emotional with at Walt Disney World?

To answer your first three questions... No, no, and ....no.

However, when watching "Wishes" I get teary eye when the Blue Fairy speaks towards the end of the show...

I get teary eye and lumpy in the throat more often at TDR.

Not so much tears or lumps, but the things that bring on a full Disney "tingle":

- Wishes
- Carousel of Progress
- TTA, specifically the reminder that Epcot should have been EPCOT
- Fantasmic finale

I get chocked up remembering the funtimes i had when i was in school.... even the "free" field trips to WDW we got... (yes my parents didn't pay for 2 trips..)

The last few trips to WDW, I've spent my last night in the parks at Epcot. I just love strolling World Showcase after IllumiNations and taking my time to leave as I linger. Eventually, I work my way toward the front entrance of the park to exit and find myself turning around to give Spaceship Earth one last look before I hit the turnstiles.

For some reason, that last look always gives me a reflective feeling.

Me too. Makes me reflect about why they have not taken down that unsightly wand off Spaceship earth!

The first time I drive through the entrance arch...

The happy classic Mickey design on the hotel soap

The ballroom in the Haunted Mansion

Sitting on a bench in World Showcase with my wife and not having to say a word to each other, because she knows how happy I feel

I could go on and on all night.....

True... when walking past it on the way out, I do walk on the west side of Spaceship Earth, just to avoid the wand.....

I get choked up everytime I see something filthy or rotting away or just unkempt and remember the days when things weren't like that.

My grandfather needed a Mickey fix twice a year. So, we would drive down to Disneyland (we lived 1.5 miles from the park) and spend the day with his buddy.

Now, as a father myself, I need my fix so I can remember how special it was to see a grandfather turn into that little boy running up to give mickey a hug.

My husband and I have several memories of Walt Disney World but the most memorable one is on our honeymoon we were visited by Hurricane Floyd (Sept 1999)- we were there when they closed the park for the first time in history!

But one of the most memorable feelings for me was when I went to the world showcase for the first time in 1993 and I got butterfiles in my stomach. I knew that I wanted to go back again and so I did ...I brought my husband on our honeymoon in 1999 and we went back again prior to our 1st son's birth in 2002. Looking to go again to bring our 2 boys soon but I guess Disneyland will have to do for now!

I get misty at some of the key moments in Disney musical shows. Like the Little Mermaid getting her legs, or Tarzan sweeping his babe into the air, or Esmerelda singing God Bless The Outcasts.

I remember one visit, when standing on the MK ferry for the first time that trip, and the PA was playing this weird medley of the Macarena song and the Tiki Room theme. For whatever reason, my feets just started to move, & I was almost choked up with the happy. Sometimes you don't know what's gonna bring it on, but thankfully it keeps on happening!

I tend to get choked up (and a bit elated) when I:
-Go on the Carousel of Progress
-Ride the TTA
-See the geodesic sphere of Spaceship Earth from the Monorail (or bus)
-Get to ride through Spaceship Earth
