Arrow Haunted Mansion refurb to disappoint

According to www.screamscape.com , it seems that the Haunted Mansion is going to disappoint when it comes to the proposed enhancements. It looks like they are going to really do some updating with the sound system and lighting which is very much needed. I'll leave you to the article here from screamscape to read more or visit the link above:

    Screamscape.com:
    Lance Hart writes:

"Unfortunately for the Haunted Mansion, it looks like the cost cutters may have won out again while John Lasseter is busy focusing on Disneyland’s new attractions.
Local spies tell us that while the Haunted Mansion will be closed for virtually the entire summer season, most of the upgrades and rehabs approved in the budget will make this a mostly “technical” upgrade to the attractions audio and lighting systems due to the poor state of the existing systems. Most of the scenic and themed improvements have been cut from the budget including some kind of huge new addition planned for the graveyard. The plans to rebuild a completely new entrance queue and exit area has also been canned in favor of a more budget conscious expansion to just the exit. The good news is that I’m told the ballroom scene will look great when the ride reopens because the plan to refurbish and replace much of the scene did manage to survive the budget cuts. Now if only someone could get Lasseter out of the Sub Lagoon in California long enough to take a look at what’s really going on in Florida, maybe there is still time to add a few more enhancement dollars to the Mansion. "

Where do you think they keep their money?

In any event, at least the ride will be getting a tech upgrade. I hear that MK's mansion is so far behind in technology they are still using tapes and reels instead of DVDs and hard drives for some of their projection effects like the Singing Busts.

True, but it does explain why so many trip reports I read say the busts were out of sync with the audio.

It could be worse. We could have it fall into disrepair like with DLR's "Squeeky Tiki Room" forcing an entire rebuild of the attraction from the ground up (or so I'm told was the real reason behind it).

Wow...That's all I can say, wow....

MK finally has the chance to have the nicest version of an attraction and what do they do? Instead of going out on a limb and really working hard, what do they do? They chicken out.

I hope someone powerful at WDC is reading this thread and corrects this mistake!

they have been upgrading the HM slowly over time. everytime i ride it there are changes and fixes but it needs to go down for sound fix and lighting fix. the only other big changes talked about were maybe having leota float and a giftshop at the end of the ride. I haven't heard about anything in the graveyard but fixing things that obviously need it. no big additions.

You forget where this post came from, Screamscape. I don't believe anything they say because most of the things that comes out of that place is lies. Take this with a grain of salt. I would be personally happy if all they do is technical stuff. I don't want the mansion to change to much like its friend Pirates of the Caribbean. But like I said, take this with a grain of salt. Screamscape is a bad source of info.

This doesn't disappoint me, because I don't get my hopes up in the first place now with Walt Disney World affairs, and especially the Haunted Mansion.

Mercifully for me, I will still have my original WDW version of HM at TDL, and in much better shape than the MK's.

Thats total BS... You mean to tell me with the current state of ticket prices for the parks in FL, they couldnt find it in their budget to really overhaul this ride... Its the only ride in FL that really needs it.

Well...as long as people shrug their shoulders and say "whatever", I can garranty nothing will be done to improve things at WDW, and remember... ticket prices will probably go up again before the end of this year... How long are you willing to continue visiting WDW before it's obvious you are not getting the quality you deserve for the money paid to enjoy the resort??
