Re: Soarin vs Soarin over california

Maybe they could make a new movie and call it Soarin' USA (or Soarin' World, or Soarin' Exoitica)

yep generic Soarin' so they can update the movie in the far future. The California Movie is great the wife and kids label this as their favorite EPCOT attraction. Sorry Mission Space, Test Track, and Spaceship Earth fans.

Well...they did do "Magic Carpet 'Round The World." But that was a CircleVision 360 movie.

Re: Soarin vs Soarin over california

There is a Soarin over the world that has been confirmed to be in production for Paris I believe. I may have my foreign park wrong off the top of my head. It is my guess that this will debut in the foreign park and then after its run there for a while we'll finally get the update here in Epcot. Soarin over California is consistently pulling in the largest lines in the park as it is so there's no need yet to update that video. Once it begins to lose some of its pull I can see a new video being pulled in to make it feel new again.

Video? I thought it was large format film? Omnimax film format, to be more precise. And at twice the normal film speed...48 frames per second.

You are correct from a technical standpoint. I just use the term video as a generic term for all things film related, just like I call all audio recordings records still even though they're not.

Gotcha. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss out on any technical conversion I might not have been aware of.

I love the one at EPCOT. I couldn't imagine flying over Florida with their terraine. We were there last week and the lines were pretty long. The fast passes were used up very fast. I don't like heights, but find that if I sit in the front row, for me, it is a lot better than the last row. Maybe it is all the feet dangling in front of me.

I just do when people get really feet kicking happy!!! Me? I don't. I keep mine still because I know how much it bugs me when I'm in row 2 or 3.

One other major difference besides the building theming is that there is NO single rider line at Epcot.

Heh, I just realized, I have ridden Soarin' 6 or 7 times and have never sat anywhere but in the front row.

We won't see a Soarin over Florida, however I am in hopes that the rumor about Soarin over the world eventually coming are true as that would really help tie that pavilion in with the world showcase.

Oh I made it clear I knew we were over Disneyland at the end. I started bellowing, "WRONG PARK! WRONG PARK! WE SHOULD'VE TURNED LEFT AT ALBUQUEQUE!"

And I was able to wear "these beauties" without them flying off (helps that my tiny head can wear the youth size ones, which have that elastic strap).
