The only "olde" air strip i know of is where Disney busses go for testing next to the regular parking lot at Trans. ticket Center..... Their may be a "corperate" airport but that doesn't work for most Floridians....

DYK of the Day... It would take more than 20 million 12-ounce cans of Coca-Cola to fill one of the humongous Coke cups at the Home-Run Hotel in Disney's All-Star Sports Resort.

    DYK...

DYK...It would take 4,000 CDs to fill the Juke Box at "Rock Inn" area of Disney's All Star Music Resort. That's enough to play for 135 days without hearing the same one twice.

Actually, the old STOLPORT is no longer useable as a runway. It is now used for some cast parking and as a staging area for buses. It was shortened several years ago and is no longer useable.

However....to do a DYK in here...

DYK...that at the time this airstrip was constructed, the strip was groved so that when the airplanes landed, the wheels would go over the grooves in the pavement and all within the aircraft would hear "zip-a-dee-doo-daa" on touchdown.

DYK...Since 1971, the total miles logged by Walt Disney World monorail trains would be equal to over 25 round trips to the moon. One dozen new cars were put into service along the 14-mile beamway in 1990 as the original fleet received a well-deserved retirement.

DyK...Four low-power radio signals on three AM frequencies keep Vacation Kingdom visitors abreast of Walt Disney World information. Guests can tune in to 1030 (driving toward the Magic Kingdom), 900 (exiting the Magic Kingdom), 810 (entering Epcot) and 900 (exiting Epcot).

    Kyle,

Do they still do this? I know it was down for almost two years and I was told they discontinued the stations? It was not active from 02-03 and I was told not in 2004 either...has this changed?

    Hopeful duck!

You're thinking of Disneyland. I don't know if it was opening day, or what the heck the motivation was, but there's definitely a scrim in their Mansion. Just above the ballroom dancers (yeah, I'm a geek).
I believe there was a hole/crack in the plexiglass in the ballroom at the Haunted Mansion at WDW also. For the longest time, they just covered it up to look like a spiderweb. I'm not sure when it actually got fixed.

    Lightbulb Did You Know...

Did you know that Walt Disney World isn't the original name of the theme park? When Walt Disney was still planning, it was going to be called Disneyland East, kind of, like when people refer to the Disneyland as Disneyland California, but he dropped the land and went with world because he knew that it was going to be a huge land, a world in fact. Walt Disney passed away before construction and final plans began to surface over the Disney World Park. Roy Disney, Walt's older brother, re-named it Walt Disney World to tell the whole world that it was his brother's dream, not his.

    Did you know?

DYK...That if both towers of ToT and a limo in RnR dropped and shot off at the same time it would bring down the power grid for the studios. Thats why imagineers had a power substation built just for those two attractions!!!!!!
