    Disneyland girl in virgin territory

Hello! I come in peace! I live less than an hour from Disneyland and have never been to WDW, but have wanted to go to MGM since I was young (it opened when I was 3). Now, i have an opportunity to go in December (if I can afford it). I'm not dure if I'll be able to go to the other parks, though. I jsut wanted an early start on suggestions and tips

Thanks all! Have a nice day!

Check out this thread that BFJen started when she found out she was going to WDW for the first time. It has some good information.

Have a great time. It is my favorite place on Earth!

MGM is great fun the first time you go.
Don't miss Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Adventure, the Backlot Tour and The Great Movie Ride!
Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster are a lot of fun (or so I've heard ).

The streetmosphere is great. They have a lot of "Hollywood actor-wannabees" out and about.

MGM gets a bad rap at times but really the first or second time you go it is a great park because everything is new and exciting.
I don't think you will be disappointed.

Yes, and the thread that is stuck in this forum is also good.

You could actually spend two full days there. The park features a good number of shows that are harder to squeeze into one day due to their set performance times. Also don't pass on attractions also at Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. STAR TOURS features a more elaborate exterior, and the queue for Muppet*Vision 3-D has a lot of nice touches. There is also the original Tower of Terror, and its garden queue.

actually depending on when you get there you can do the whole park in one day. the not to be missed attractions: star tours, tower of terror, rockinrollercoaster, the great movie ride, and the two stunt shows. the rest can be fit in depending on timing for shows and such.

I believe that our ToT in MGM is the only one where the elevator car moves foward through space...

MGM is my second favorite park down there
Catch the parade. And ToT and Rockin roller Coaster if you're into that thing!
The backlot tour is REALLY lame but go on it if there's not a long wait.
The Ariel show was totally lame.
The movie ride is cheesy as all get out but a lot of fun!
Try the Sci Fi Drive in diner.
    Oh, have fun!!!
Ignore the huge ugly blue Sorcery Mickey hat!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Parisi, you are correct about the 5th Dimension Room. Personally, I believe it's execution helps make the ride portion weaker than DCA's Tower.

What is the big thrill everybody finds in star tours? I mean, yeah, great theme but as a ride - meh!

I agree. Very overrated if you ask me. Of course, I also have a bias against simulators to begin with. I just find them boring.

That is correct, but the elevator moves forward thru a corridor, not space. Or else, you'd need a space suit to ride.

Likewise I could say it's SHOW and storytelling what makes TDS' TOT better than DCA's, even when the two share the same elevator ride system and programming. (No forward motion either)

Both the Sci-Fi Diner and the Prime Time Cafe are fun and unique places to eat at MGM.
