This is good news.
Just read it's closing it's summer and reopening in November.
Hope it closes LATE summer, as I would like to see it before it closes.

Since Siemens isn't a telecom company like the previou sponsor, I guess it makes since that it would drift from its original pure focus on "communications," but it sounds like they are keeping it relatively close.

Good news but I sure hope they don't wimper on this redo... The ride needs major rework, both technically, show quality, audio and in execution. I want the AAs to stay but major work needs to be done to disguide the sets better abd make them look more authetic. They need to add more cutting edge special effects, upgrade AAs, cover up all of the technical stuff that is quite visible to the guests (like lighting above and empty spaces between sets, just to name a few!
As it is right now, riding SE is like taking a walk inside Ikea... you just go from one set to the next with minimal execution or transition. I expect more from this and will slam it big time if they do not set some kind of standard with this redo or at least exceed my expectations to a certain degree. Of course.. with WDW's track record of late, it would not surprised me if they took out most AA's and replaced them with scrims and videos to dumb it down like Nemo and Gran Fiesta.. a big video TV romp with minimal wow factor. But I don't think they would do that. Would they?
Sounds like a mix of Horizons and SSE.
I hope they get a FEMALE narrator.
I want a hot chick to do it. Super hot. Hot. Like Bea Arthur.
As long as the Dark Ages part still has that smell of burning, I'll be happy.
Agreed!
I am all for the redo of the ride they have proposed. It sounds great!
I've just been informed that this "rehab" is much larger then what was released in the press release. Evidently this will almost take 9 months, and during that time the wand will be removed, and the entire 2nd half of Spaceship Earth will be fully gutted and re-built. Don't read too much into chosing your "own future", that's not the key in the article. I'll let you know more when I find out more.
One thing though. This means Spaceship Earth, EPCOT's flagship attraction, will be closed for EPCOT's 25th. I'm glad they are doing the rehab, but seems kinda like a slap in the face to EPCOT as a whole to pick now to do it.

Disney has prepared for this for several years now. They refurbed El Rio, refurbed the Seas. They also increased the Land's capacity. All of this was done in preparation for this refurb. It takes a bit of the extra guests off of the walkways.
All in all, this has been planned a looong time ago regardless of Siemens' position in WDW.
As for the wand, my signature says it all.![]()
