    Grad Nite 2007: #1

Let me just say "WHOA!" Last night was the most stressful night of work in my life!! These kids were just...well crazy!! I remember a day when we were thankful to be able to go to something like Grad Nite, but kids these days are so ungrateful and rude!!! i cannot believe some of the things that came out of their mouths!! i dont think i would have ever been so mean to the CM's at Grad Nite...maybe a little rowdy and crazy, but not outright rude!!

and for those of you who will certianly chastise me for saying this, i am not exaggerating about this....i ran into only 24 "good kids" all night - the other massive number were just plain - ARGH!! please forgive me for ranting...just had to get it out lol

omg yes!! i just didnt see the need for them to be so vile....i started off being very nice to them even when they treated me like crap...then i just gave up and remained neutral.

the best way to describe them: "abusive"

I am sure Splash Mountain's sets are totally covered in chewing gum this morning. Personally, they need to pull the plug on Grad Nights. Disney does not need to amuse these brats off high school. I don't see what's so special about that.

Pulling the plug on Grad Nites will not happen. Makes big $$$.

Big Bucks? How? I find it hard to beleive that an event like this would bring any significant amount of money into the resort. Except of course, when some big wig needs to fatten his bonus a bit more before retirement...

I'm sorry to hear about that, Space Junk. Do these kids not appreciate anything? At least you held your tongue and remained civilized. Good for you! I've heard horror stories about Night of Joy, but I didn't know Grad Nite was such a problem.

Grad Night has become a major problem atthe Mk as many of these kids feel cool about vandalizing the MK all over, and given the lack of great maintenance work at that park... the situation is made worst. THAT is the problem I have with Grad Nights.

I get really ticked when people disrespect the park too, TDLfan. Are chaperones present? What are they doing when these kids are running around, vandalizing property?

Having been to some Grad Nites myself, I can assure you that kids don't go to destroy the parks. I find this thread very odd, and I think the person who posted this is over-reacting to a bad night he had working at the park.

As far as how much money that is made, TDLfan, look at it this way. The parks close. They re-open when the parks could be closed. Every person who enters the park is a paying guest. Grad Nite isn't free, the kids do pay for it, and the schools pay on top of that. The kids also get hungry, so they also are making money on food and shopping. And believe me, these kids love to buy anything that says Class of 2007 and has WDW on it. How cool is it to have a pair of ears with your graduating class? They sell out every year.

That is made worse by the bad maintenance in the first place. You can thank Phil for that. Don't blame it on the kids.

For comparison sake, how recently was your grad night experience?

Let's just say I've been in the parks during Grad Nite within the last year... not to say I was graduating then. But I was in the MK.

Considering how many schools are too far away to even consider Grad Night, you'd think these kids would appreciate how lucky they are. I would have KILLED to have gone to Grad Night when I was in high school. But of course not. Being civilized and actually behaving is so... uncool. I really hate most teenagers because of that. My friends & I were kinda rowdy back in the day but we also knew how to show respect when needed.
