No more smoking in my room!!!

Well it looks like getting a non-smoking room will not be a problem. Disney announced that all of their hotels will go smoke free. That is good news to me.

I am off to the world. See you when I get back. First time not staying at the Polynesian during any of my stay L but it is WDW.

just for the record, I am a smoker and this deciosion doesnt offend me at all. As long as i can still smoke somewhere on property, I'm happy. I know we'll all hear the fallout from the smokers about how Disney is violating their rights, but w/e. Ive been smoking for 7 years and I never had the urge to smoke in my car or home lol

That's a great decision. Now there are more rooms open for everyone. I just hope they completely refurbish the rooms to get the smell out.

I totally agree with Space Junk. Most smokers I know, never smoke in their house - so, why should they in a hotel room.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

As a non-smoker with a very sensitive olfactory gland, I really appreciate not having to be in or even near rooms that have been smoked in.

This is great news for me since smoke gives me a headache! (Actually, I laways have one and it just makes it worse.) And there's something about making reservations at the Polynesian and not having a guarantee of a smoke free room?

No smoking in all of WDW except designated areas. That is something to celebrate. Unfortunately Georgia doesn't listen, because we can smell the smoke from the Georgia fires down here.

Truely good news. My wife doesn't mind taking her ashtray outside to smoke.
BTW, if the wind is blowing north today you might be able to smell the smoke from our local fires! The big one might be upto 1K acres today.

is that the fire near aligator alley? I am glad to hear about the rooms being nonsmoking I thought they were all nonsmoking since florida put the smoking ban in place a few years ago. I didn't realise that it didn't include hotel rooms.

Re: No more smoking in my room!!!

Well I do feel for those who smoke mostly because I see it as an addiction but I have lived with sever asthma my whole life and the slightest smoke makes me tighten up. I think the understanding smokers know how to avoid causing problems for others but there are many who donít think or donít care. I am use to smoking not being allowed in most areas since I live in California but I will be happy to see Disney make this move to make the resort a better place for all. Too often people email me about going to the Polynesian and stressing about not getting a non-smoking room that they requested. Now they will not have to worry. This also eliminates smoking out on patios and balconies (which was allowed before). I was told a year ago they were thinking of doing this because not enough people want a smoking room and the cost to clean and replace items in the rooms was 10 times that of a non-smoking room.

There will still be designated areas for those who need to smoke.

Re: No more smoking in my room!!!

    How could they enforce this?

I am a non-smoker and I always ask for a non-smoking room. By banning smoking it just means that ALL rooms become smoking rooms.

Some people will break the rules and smoke in the room, now they won't be able to ask for a "smoker's room."

I hate to break it to you people with sensitive noses, but I bet this makes it MORE likely that people will smoke in your room.

Ha! You think you can? We can see it and breathe it in here!

    Back on topic:

I for one am very happy about this decision, but let's see it get enforced. I can't count the times I have seen people smoking all over WDW in non-designated areas and no one does anything about it.

Exactly! Now imagine them trying to enforce it INSIDE hotel rooms!

It's always been against the rules for people to do drugs in the hotel room... I bet that happens, too.
