Leave a Legacy Kiosks to be removed

This is a bit of old news but the LaL kiosks near SSE wil be removed according to the OCCompt. The sales area on the side of the entrance area will also be removed.
The stones will stay since they are gauranteed to be displayed until 2020. There is no mentioned of if or where the stones will be moved.

I can't see the link. Does it say what will happen to the pictures? I've got two on there. One with each of my sons.

Re: Leave a Legacy Kiosks to be removed

There is no mention of the stone structures in this document. However, another document has surfaced that states that certain stainless steal panels will be refurbished. I highly doubt this has anything to do with the panels on the stones. Most of the changes will be happening in the SSE area.

One more thing, a new guardrail and security checkpoint will be built at the main entrance of the park.

Re: Leave a Legacy Kiosks to be removed

Several Micechatters were at EPCOT this evening and we happened to notice the entire LAL display at the base of Spaceship Earth has been covered up with some sort of temporary wall. Personally, I would love to see this entire LAL display taken out, and EPCOT's plaza turned into a welcoming garden with trees, flowers and streaming water fixtures and fountains... That would be a more welcoming arrival into EPCOT, as opposed to the mausoleum feel the LAL display really right now. The whole thing has run it's course. Replace it.

I hate Epcot's entrance plaza; it reminds me of a graveyard.

So what about all the people who paid big money for a tiny unrecognizable picture? This "legacy" apparently doesn't last very long

As I already mentioned to some MiceChatters, last week I overheard a guest say the exact same thing to his family. So we aren't the only ones thinking this.

It's all walled up now. Also, you can expect a major re-design of the park entrance soon, including new security stations.

Well... the mausoleum area was not walled up tonight. Only the kiosks.

It doesn't say the mausoleum is being removed! Just the kiosks!

Re: Leave a Legacy Kiosks to be removed

And in any case, the 'mausoleum' stones do not have to be situated at the front of the park. It was in the original contract that the stones have to be at Epcot until 2020. Not in the Epcot entrance area until 2020. They could move them to anywhere in the park and still be fulfilling their promise to the guests who paid for images to be placed on them. However, I can imagine the trouble and money to move them would be large.

Do you know if they will at least move the giant tombstones to another location or at least consolidate the pictures onto a few and demolish the extra ones. The original Epcot Enterance with the fountain and palm trees and no wand was very elogant and clean looking and it would make me very happy to see Disney restore as much of that look as possible.

As someone who has "left a legacy" (well not my face, but my kids) I say move the things.

Get them out of the blazing sun, put the trees and fountain back and have a nice wall running down the center with the plates bolted to it.

And no, I did not pay for the legacy, I got it free once when staying on property (don't ask me when, I can't remember things like that. It was either leave a legacy or get $25 worth of crappy food at Planet Hollywood)
