I'm a bit uninformed, I'm afraid: what's an Illuminations Cruise. I will be at WDW on June 24th, along with my two kids; what does it entail; how much for each of us?

I am a bit curious as to what the Illumination Cruise is too. Though I wouldn't be around to participate on this I'd like to know what it is since I've never heard of it.
The IllumiNations Cruise is a pleasure cruise that sets out from one of the Epcot resorts. You are taken around the exterior lagoon of EPCOT and are then parked into position near the bridge crossing from France into the UK. From there, you will be able to watch IllumiNations. I believe that some snacks and beverages are available on board but not a full service meal.

Yep, there are snacks and beverages available for 10 people. But they do a menu if you are interesed in ordering from Y&BC private dining.
