Really great photos, and trip report. I especially thought the castle shots were amazing. Their castle is so beautiful now that they have taken all the gold down from the 50th.

Your faces tell the story. You can really tell that you all had a really great time. Thanks for sharing.

Great report! I loved how you two both worked at getting one trip report out.

Bread pudding:
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 loaf challah bread (or enough to fill 10 cups when cubed)
  • 1/2 cups crushed pineapple
  • 1/4 cups cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
Banana Foster Sauce:
  • 1cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup spiced or dark rum
  • 3 bananas
For Service:
  • 1/2 gallon vanilla bean ice cream
Preperation
Bread Pudding:
  1. In a large mixing bowl wisk together eggs, salt, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg
  2. Preheat oven to 350º F
  3. Cut challah bread in 1/2 inch cubes
  4. Add bread, white chocolate, pineapple, coconut, and raisins to egg and milk mixture
  5. Grease large baking dish with butter, then add bread custard mix to the greased dish
  6. Bake for 1 hour 10 min. Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minues.
Bananas Foster Sauce:
  1. In a sauce pan combine dark brown sugar, corn syrup, butter and half of the heavy cream. Using high heat bring to a rolling boil
  2. Allow muxture to boil for 10 minutes and add remaining heavy cream. Let it boil for an additional minute.
  3. Add rum and vanilla extract. Flambe the pan using a long stemmed lighter and let it boil til the flame goes out. (some reason I could get the alcohol to ignite and the taste was a little over powering, so you may want to use less rum. Or maybe you might want to add more )
  4. Reduce to a simmer and stir with a high heat spatula
  5. Peel and slice bananas Add them to the caramel sauce. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside
For Service:
  1. Place a scoop of ice cream on top of each portion of bread pudding and top with the Banana Foster Sauce.
Cooks note: Make the Bananas Foster sauce as the /bread Pudding is baking to save time and have both items hot and ready to serve at the same time.

As you can see it is a very healthy recipe it says it serves 6-8 but I had a lot of sauce left over. The bread pudding was good even without the sauce and ice cream. If anyone is interested name on the recipe is Chef Michael A Thompson of Disney's Polynesian Resort, 'Ohana Restaurant. Enjoy!

More is good, but ,,,,,

Warm it first before adding, or keep the heat on the sauce. You need to get the alcohol to vaporize in order to ignite, and you need heat to do that.

Flambaeing the dish only burns off about 20% of the alcohol anyway, so if it was too harsh without lighting it, there is a good chance it will still be that way even if you do get it to light.

The recipe does look good though. I may have to whip up a batch (but with a bit of the Captain in it )

You and the Captain, make it happen.

LOL. Thanks for the trip report and pictures. Also the recipe. I'm not a fan of bananas, but I bet I could use another fruit to get something yummy.

Oooh, thanks for the terrific trip report and photos! I LOVE those nighttime shots of the castle. *sigh* I can't wait to go back there...but it will probably be sometime next year. At least I can live vicariously through trip reports. LOL!

Re: The Clinkerbelle's Gay Days weekend Trip Report

Last day ... and we were very sad.

We had to make it a point to go to MGM to get Star Wars merchandise so it was going to be a brief trip to Animal Kingdom and then off to MGM since we had to leave about 4pm to make our 645pm flight home.

Driving into Animal Kingdom

Belle is ready to go

Talking Tree

After getting into the park we decided that we wanted to eat at Sci-Fi at MGM for lunch. A quick call to Disney Dining and we got 1:30 ressies, this way we knew how much time we had at AK.

After the rope-drop our first stop was Everest.

Our On-Ride photo. We had the front-row

After our ride we got a call from the Boys who were heading to get FP's for the Safari ride. We headed over that way

Neat sign on the construction wall for Yak and Yeti

After meeting up we all headed for Pangani Forest Trail

I decided to get artsy with some B&W pictures

Hippo

Meerkats - Make sure to watch Meerkat Manor ... great show ... but these things can be MEAN!!!

Gorilla

This guy looked cool

The boys wanted to make the 11:30 Nemo show and it was time for our Everest FP's so we all headed back to the Asia area of the park.

Then it was time for some artsy sephia pictures of Everest

Doom BGI and Everest in Sephia

Back to Everest where everybody else was getting FP's for later in the day. Since we were leaving we got 2 for Doom BGI since he had just gotten his Safari passes. (were nice like that )

After our ride it was time to leave Animal Kingdom.

But not before taking some more shots of Everest

We saw the group in line for Nemo

We said our sad goodbye's to our friends, thanked them for 4 of the funnest days EVER and headed out of the park. But not before doing some shopping.

Stay tuned later for Disney MGM Studios Part II.

Awww, it looks like we just missed you two. Bummer! I hope you had a safe flight home! So tell me, how is the Sci Fi Diner? I've never eaten there.

Re: The Clinkerbelle's Gay Days weekend Trip Report

Sci-Fi was GREAT. And with the Dining Experience Card it really wasn't much more than a counter-service meal. It's on the list for October.

Re: The Clinkerbelle's Gay Days weekend Trip Report

Well, it's been a week, I guess it's time to wrap this up.

Our last park was to be MGM as we had to get some Star Wars stuff for the boy.

The sign at the entrance of the park:

I want this mailbox

Star Tours

The Cars were around

They had some pretty cool Star Wars weekend signs around the park

Boba Fett

Tuskan Raider (or sandperson)

We decided to see the Narnia thing ... (uhm, yeah, could have been SO MUCH better)

The did have a few props from the movie though

We had lunch at Sci-Fi Diner ... we LOVED it

Walt and his robot

Make sure to visit the snack-bar

Yummy burger and fries

Sci Fi

The Clinkerbelle's in their car (REALLY makes me miss the Drive-In)

Back to Star Wars stuff ...

Stormtrooper

Cantina Band dudes

We had to ride Star Tours ... I didn't realize they had 6 simulators when we rode it last October

After Star Tours we decided to get a spot to watch the Parade since it's going away and we hadn't really seen it.

The Streetmosphere before the parade is AWESOME!!!

Dorma Nesmond (LOVED the Sunset Blvd connection)

The director was looking for a stunt-man

While he was writing tickets

The next big hollywood star?

And now it was time for the parade

Chip and Dale take a bow

The Toy Story Car

Mary Poppins and Bert

Muppets

R2D2 (do they always have the Star Wars people out, or was it just because it is Star Wars Weekends?)

Luke and Leia

Mulan

Aladdin and Jasmine in their Genie car

This picture is for Villains Fan

Hades

Lilo and Stitch

Ariel

Power Rangers (I didn't know the Yellow Ranger was a chick ... )

Dopey

Pinnochio

The Fab 5

Pooh

I thought the parade was cute enough. But to me, it is just weird that you have a parade called "Stars and Motorcars", you have the AWESOME "Cars" characters ... yet they aren't in the actual parade that features Disney characters in CARS.

Went back out to the Postal truck, bought 2 books of Star Wars Stamps and a very cool Stormtrooper litho celebrating the 30 years of Star Wars and the new stamp collection.

And then we said goodbye to Florida for the next 4 months. It was a short, but VERY fun trip. Took our car back to Hertz, to the airport and on our way home.

Can't wait to be back.

Bye Florida

.....and I thought the report was over. Your last pics of Animal Kingdom, and MGM were great. You really squeezed a lot into your last day at Disney World.
