Re: How do you wrap up your WDW trip?

It's gotta be MK the final night, just to soak it all in one last time. It's a special place and a special park, especially main street. Just to walk along the sidewalks and browse through the stores for that last souvenir is amazing! It's a bittersweet thing, leaving the MK; who knows when you'll be back. I still remember leaving DL upon the conclusion of my first visit there. I did not want to leave. It's been 4 years and I haven't been back, but budget willing, next year will see us in the happiest place on earth!

Turn around, look back at whatever park we're leaving and say, "Thank you, Walt!"

That would be an extremely touching/depressing moment... Oh gosh, I'm going in a week to WDW and I'm feeling depressed for when I leave!

Re: How do you wrap up your WDW trip?

It's always always ALWAYS a water park in the day, then over to the Magic Kingdom for Wishes on the final night. The second from last night is always Epcot and IllumiNations as well. Its so nice to end the holiday with a relaxing day at a water park then with a big Disney bang at night. I'm getting all emotional and nostalgic just thinking about! I suppose its bringing back the feelings of the last day of a Disney holiday.

On our last day, it's breakfast at Perkin's - best omelettes in the world - and usually straight to the airport. Cos we stay off site, we don't go to Disney on our last day. Probably for the best. I'd just wanna stay there and will end up missing my flight.

    This thread is so nice!

The last couple of visits have included a viewing of Illuminations at the end.

On our last night, the wife and I leave the kids and we head offsite to eat a nice relaxed non-Disney dinner. We congratulate ourselves on another successful trip and inevitably one us blurts out "this is our last trip to Disney for awhile"

Wow. Looks like consensus sways to cap things off at MK!

I know most folks leave in the day/afternoon, I think it'd be cool to book a red-eye and check out after the Fireworks (IllumiNations/Wishes)

On July 1, my return flight leaves at 9:50 PM. Not quite enought time to catch a final show.

That was the only afternoon flight I could get too. (It was sort of a last minute thing)

Re: How do you wrap up your WDW trip?

Count me in with last night at the MK. There's just something about making the first park the last one that we visit each trip. Seeing the MSEP (or Spectromagic), the fireworks, Main Street all lit up at night, and riding those few short-line rides always makes for a fitting ending to our Disney stay.

Usually the next morning finds us at Downtown Disney to take care of last minute shopping needs and to act as an easy withdrawl to the whole parks experience.

Since we always drive in, we always look at the Mickey Ears Light pole and say, "Hello Disney World!" As loud as we can.

When we leave, we always say, "See you Real Soon Disney World!"

It's great because my youngest daughter is the first one to tell us she sees it and gets the family all riled up.

I was actually planning on visiting AK on my last day next week. Looks like I may have to reschedule the itinerary and swap AK with MK to get the full 'Disney' effect I see recommended

Re: How do you wrap up your WDW trip?

I always get a late flight out. Last day usually starts at MK, but always ends up at Epcot. Usually but not always Fetuccine Alfredo at Alfredo's.

My goal is to stay as late as I can and still catch my plane. Who wants to sit in the airport when you can be walking around World Showcase? Haven't missed my flight yet.

Re: How do you wrap up your WDW trip?

Last time I went, we did all four parks in one day. Did AK until 4 or so, went to Studios for fantasmic, went to Epcot for Illuminations, went to MK for one last ride on Splash. barely made the last one. If I had to do it over again, I'd skip Illuminations.
