 | Disney Confirms That 'Disney-MGM' Name Won't Change There has been a lot of speculation for years that the Disney-MGM Studios theme park could change its name, but Disney says that won't be happening anytime soon. It was first reported that it would become the Walt Disney Studios park after a naming agreement with MGM expired. Then, industry analysts thought the name would be shared by MGM and Pixar once Disney acquired the movie studio last year. Disney confirmed that an area of the park will be named for Pixar once a new Toy Story ride opens, but the MGM name will remain for the entire park. This is the same Disney that said Lutz was crazy and nothing was afoot for Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland. This is the same Disney that said that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Rocket Rods were closed for an extended refurbishment. Disney lies, plain and simple. |

For simplicity, the "center" was later dropped off the theme park title. It's now just "EPCOT"

If they are going to change it it should only be to Disney Studios or Walt Disney Studios. I was not thrilled about adding PIXAR to the name of the park. Renaming a section within the park is OK with me. Quote:
