Talking DP4590's HUGE 15 Night TR!!! - SSR and VBR

Here's a little background: I just graduated high school and this HUGE vacation was my graduation present from my parents. Last summer, we went to WDW and stayed at Pop Century. At the very end of our trip, we took a DVC tour in fell in love. We bought 150 points, and were also given a special promotional offer so that we had 2006 points as well as the 2007 points. Therefore, on this trip, we had double the amount of points that we usually would have to use on this trip. We bought into Saratoga Springs (SSR) and also took a brief trip to Vero Beach (VBR) for a few days.

    The schedule was:
    5 nights - SSR studio
    3 nights - VBR 1-bedroom
    7 nights - SSR studio

Day 1 - Travel, Saratoga Springs (May 31)

I began the trip exhausted, having just graduated the day earlier. We got up at 4 am (I went to sleep at 2 am), and headed to the airport. Our flight to DFW was delayed about 90 minutes because there was no pilot!!! We missed our scheduled flight to Orlando, luckily, we made standby on the next flight, taking the last three seats on a packed flight. We got into MCO only a few hours behind schedule.

On our way to SSR, thanks to Disney's Magical Express!

We were given a studio in Congress Park with a partial DtD view. Our room is the second floor on the left side.

    The view from our balcony.

    Outside the Carriage House.

The quiet pool in Congress Park.

We were all so tired that unpacked and fell asleep around 7pm! No parks for us today.

    Day 2 - Epcot (June 1)

One of the reasons we came to WDW so early was to see the International Flower and Garden Festival. This year's theme was (what else?) - Pirate and Princess.

    In front of Spaceship Earth.

    Aaaaahhhhh........

Mickey is a pirate and Minnie is a princess, at the entrance to World Showcase.

Gran Fiesta Tour is greatly improved over El Rio del Tiempo.

    Onto Norway....

and China. My mom and I were both born in the year of the horse.

Last year, the China pavilion featured a Hong Disneyland exhibit. This year, there is an exhibit on the tombs of Chinese emperors.

Lunch at Nine Dragons was good.

There were some young acrobats performing in China that were just fantastic! These kids had some serious talent. Just look at these pictures. Not only were they contortionists, but they had unbelieveable balance.

Yep, she's balancing bowls on her foot.

And, yes, she is balancing all of those glasses on her nose!

Moving the Earth out for Illuminations later that night.

June 1 is the first day of hurricane season and, as luck would have it, there was a huge rainstorm. We sought refuge inside of the American Adventure and saw the Voices of Liberty.

It was still raining, so we went into Innoventions and my dad and I rode the Segway. The CMs definately did not believe that I was old enough to ride, even though I am really 17. Also, I barely made the minimum weight requirement.

The Segway goes a lot faster than it looks! Wheeeeee....

My dad gave it a spin too.

That's all for today. Up next, the Disney-MGM Studios.

To be so young and carefree (not having to pay the bills associated with a 15 day trip to WDW/FL)..... I miss those days.

Fun trip report so far, and your dad is so skinny! A rare sight now a days.

    Day 3 - Disney-MGM Studios (June 2)

Sitting on the SSR balcony. That's a lollipop that I'm eating, BTW.

We ate a good lunch at Mama Melrose's, yet there seem to be no pictures....

So here are just a bunch of random shots:

Hmmmmm....even in WDW, subways are dirty.....

I wore my Desperate Housewives shirt and searched all day for a billboard or sign for the show.

    ...............

    And then I found it!

I'm a HUGE ABC fan, so we walked into the ABC Commissary.

    Gasp! The Dharma Initiative.....

Well, this isn't the best picture, but we did see Fantasmic! that night. It's not Disneyland, but it's still a great show. (Especially since it wasn't showing on my last trip to DL.)

Up next, the Magic Kingdom and more Epcot.

    Great TR so far.

We were also at Epcot on June 1st and I 'think' we probably saw the same showing of American Adventure that you did. It was right when it started raining and those singers were there.

Looking forward to more of the TR.
