CLASS & ELEGANCE = EPCOT
.
Uhhhh ........ Do we really need some stupid, pitiful, tacky, ugly wand???
NO!!!!!!!!!!!
.
Maybe if we are luck they will convert some of the buffets back to restaurants like they were 25 years ago. I really miss those great German meals.
We are the makers of magic!
In my opinion, a wandless SSE just looks naked. I think the wand gives it more vibrance and a bolder appearance. That's just my few cents though.

Keep those few cents and put 'em toward a DL trip!Originally Posted by askmike1
BTW, I just saw a special on the Discovery Channel about wand removal, but it wasn't anything I expected at all ... no mention of Epcot either. Strange.
Escape WE GET THE PICTURE! (no pun intended)

(VERY OLD!) TRIP REPORTS
As much as us Disney fans might want the wand to go, the average guest that visits the park every 5-7 years likes it. So that is why it has it's stationary base and isn't moving anytime soon.
Exactly. There is no reason for Disney to care about our opinions b/c whether or not the wand comes down, Disney has us as their loyal fan base that will always return. Flashy signs that sparkle at night attract visitors. Ever been to Vegas?Originally Posted by BigPigletFan

Sadly, this is true in large part ... and the average WDW guest isn't the most ... uhm ... ah ... discerning/tasteful/classy person.Originally Posted by BigPigletFan

B.P.F. does make a good point .... (and I don't mean this next line with any disrespect at all) ....but the sad thing with that with many people ... you give'm something that is questionably tasteful (Pooh playland, over 20,000 Leagues Under Sea) .. and they "somehow" seem content with it indifinitely.Originally Posted by BigPigletFan

Just look at this "lovely" addition from a few years back:

The castle cake was an embarassment that I hardly liken the wand to. The castle cake would be akin to molding Spaceship Earth into Walt's frozen head. But, hey, the castle cake had its silver lining...the resultant work to return it to its more glorious form allowed for more detailed brick painting and that awesome lighting effect we see every night w/ the castle continuously changing colors...which I LOVE.

The problem with the "Hat" and the "Wand" (other than that they are ugly) is that they destroy the sense of a unified plan for those two parks. The Studios has a real looking Hollywood Blvd which is ruined by a cartoon looking hat at its focal point. The Wand at EPCOT makes the same mistake. You have a park that is a bit Worlds Fair and a bit Tomorrowland and you start throwing in wands and Disney/Pixar characters. It just makes it seem like a mish mash of a park. I loved EPCOT when it knew what it was.
