Phil Holmes Took My Advice ...

No, unfortunately, he hasn't left the company to work for WalMart.

But he did see the writing on the wall with his job and my mocking advice that I'd put some positive PR spin on things if I were him and place a story on myself and guess what?

I just came across a featurey Q&A (complete with really bad photo) of Phil in the Orlando Sentinel.

    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busin...,2108641.story

The header is something about MK VP rising from the bottom, instead of taking the MK to the bottom as it should have been.

What a great reporter Scott Powers is. Truly.

    Yeah.

If misplaced arrogance could show in a photo ... oops, I think it just did.

Along with way too white veneers on the teeth!

OK ... so should I feel bad I suggested it here and at anotherdisneyplace.com ... or do I just chalk it up to him being a slimey, political exec that knows his neck is on the line and can call in a favor from the local sad excuse for a newspaper?

Well, yes. Now you've extended his reign. *sigh*

What you need to do is suggest an article on how good I'd be at running the Magic Kingdom Park.

Re: Phil Holmes Took My Advice ...

As corny (or whatever adjective you'd like to use) this article may be, I really do like the ending.
Q: For you, what's the Magic Kingdom's least appreciated feature?

A: I would say there still is a lot of opportunity that our guests can enjoy, as difficult as it is, by enjoying the park at a slower pace. It may take you a day and a half or two days. But, you know, spread it out. Take a ride on the train. Go ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Take time to for the slower things, where you can enjoy the vistas and have family time where you can talk. There certainly are a good number of people who do that.
I will agree that not enough guests do this. In slowing down their paces, guests are going back to the way Walt designed the park to be enjoyed. That was the point of the ticket books - to enjoy the atmopshere and your experience with your family and friends. I wish more guests would do that, and not just those of us who visit often. I think that if each guest could put in at least a half day of park visiting "slowly" into their travel plans, they would find a new found appreciation for the smallest things.

On a totally randon comment to the photo - anyone notice how he is wearing a number of Stitch pins? I wonder if this photo was taken around when Stitch opened, if that's a favorite character, or what it might imply?

WDW1974... maybe next time, you should suggest being made CEO, and ask them to make TDLFAN your Frank Wells... and we'll make things happen.

Re: Phil Holmes Took My Advice ...

I hope phil holmes and the person that interviewed him both get fired.

I always hate when people ask "Don't you feel the video game generation gets bored with old school style rides?" Well im part of the "video game generation" and I speak for the majority when I say NO! Kids don't get bored with elaborately themed rides with audio animatronics and catchy tunes...people will get bored looking at video projections all day and sh*ty dialogue (monsters inc laugh floor, stitch's great escape) though!

That article just boils my blood.

I was actually going to say this until I found someone had said it before.
Cheesy article, nightmarish photo, but truthful ending.

    Uh, forgive my ignorance here...

Besides looking like he got a dental job from the Mack Truck Company, and giving a lame interview totally lacking any substance, what's so terrible about this guy?

He has run the Magic Kingdom theme park into the ground with poor maintenance, poor attraction upkeep, allowing lame additions to the park, etc. etc.

    Hes like Pressler-lite
