July 4th Immigrant Swearing In Ceremony - Anyone Going?

Is anyone planning to be a part of this either as a participant, relative, friend, acquaintance, observer or perhaps even a CM assigned to the event?

"The Magic Kingdom will serve as backdrop when more than 1,000 immigrants swear allegiance to the United States as new citizens during a special Fourth of July naturalization ceremony at Disney World in Orlando."

No, I would love to know what time it's planned - I may head down there to take some photos (though I'm sure it will be CRAZY!) I love that Lee Greenwood will be there.

That is such a sweet idea! Denise, if you do get the chance to take some photos, I would love to see them.

I do think I'll get there - I am not staying on property, but I'll try to get over there very early and in the gates at 8am. But I don't know what time the event is taking place (all I know is morning) or how far back I'd be. If I get anything worth posting, I will!

It always seems like becoming a citizen is a really special thing (I remember seeing Rick Springfield in concert a year or so back, and he'd just become one!) But doing it in front of thousands of people - family, friends, strangers, Mickey Mouse...that has to be an incredible experience.

If anyone gets more information than "it's in the morning", please let me know! Even if I didn't get close enough to take usable photos, I'd love to get to see it (though I'd love to get some photos too).
    Thanks.

The Orlando Sentinel is saying the ceremony is at 8am? That is what time the park opens, so that would be pretty quick!

Not too sure about that, but they do get free breakfast in the Ballroom of the Haunted Mansion.

Seriously? Allears now says 3000 (?), the ballroom doesn't seem that big!

I am going to try to get some photos tomorrow, I am not even sure where everything is actually going to be situated. So I might miss out anyway (but I'm getting there very early, leaving here by 6am).

    Haunted Manison is currently closed....no?

What year to choose too nothing better than during The Year of A Million Dreams and a dream come true for these people and nothing better than at Disney.

    Haunted Mansion closed...yes.

I hope it works out for them, the weather is rainy right now - so hopefully it stops even for an hour or so! I may end up swimming down there.

So, what do they do in this "swearing" ceremony? They teach the illegals 4-letter words??

I was thinking that today (not specifically about Disney, though!) Just that it'd be nice if we all had that kind of fanfare as we first were new citizens of our country!

It was nice - I couldn't hear very well sometimes, and I personally think the applicants/citizens should have been on stage too. (which would have allowed friends/family and everyone else to actually watch them get sworn in as citizens). Oh - and it poured for a bit. But that was okay!

I'll have photos up later. I wish Lee Greenwood had done a second round of "God Bless the USA", I never get tired of that song.
