Looks like Somethings afoot at MGM Studios...

disneydata on the WDWmagic forums posted this interesting report that was given to cast members. So I guess its official:

July 9th will be rehab wall day! See below for details.
The Jedi Training Academy will become a permanent addition with a brand new stage. The wall will go up July 9th.
Mickey Ave will officially close on July 9th and will reopen with the ride as Pixar Place.
The Sorcerer Mickey hat will get a lighting refurb and the wall is expected to go up in July.
Playhouse Disney in Concert will be held in a large air-conditioned tent in the parking lot behind Rock 'n' Roller Coaster this year.
A new Playhouse Disney show will be opening in February featuring the Little Einsteins, Jojo's Circus, and Mickey's Clubhouse.
Little Einsteins and Jojo's Circus characters will have a new meet and greet area in the Animation Courtyard probably opening sometime in the fall.
Sorcerer Mickey will have a new meet and greet inside the Animation Tour building also opening in the fall.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will be going down for a major refurbishment from Labor Day to the beginning of October.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid will be going under refurbishment sometime in the next few months.
Rosie's and Eddie's on Sunset Blvd will go under refurbishments in the next month or two for kitchen upgrades.
Muppet Vision 3D will be switching over to a digital projection system (not 100% approved yet).
Block Party Bash will be making its debut in March and the Stars and Motor Cars parade will be retired here.
Toy Story Mania will be opening tentatively in late April.
A brand new show will be opening on a permanent basis in the ABC Theater in May.
Another major (e-ticket) ride will possibly be opening in 2009-2010 (nothing confirmed yet)

So has anyone here heard what this new "eticket" is going to be? I don't think they are refering to Star Tours because alot of people are saying whatever it is its replacing "Soudnstage 1". Also what is this new show replacing the ABC theater? Will it be based on a pixar property?

    Nice find, great stuff!

I have heard talk about a possible Narnia attraction coming to DisneyMGM especially in light of Harry Potter coming to Universal and the statement that it may "possibly be opening in 2009-2010" puts the timing right.
I had also heard that 'Voyage' was actually slated to be closed and replaced but apparently it is just a refurb now and with the Little Mermaid Broadway show just around the corner, keeping the attraction going is good cross promotion for Disney.
As for Playhouse Disney (the show not the concert), that change was inevitable and it will be interesting to see if they replace Bear as the host - my guess is MMC will take over somehow but we'll see.

Can anyone else or any other cast members in particular, confirm anything in the previous post or provide any more info?

Yeah! A new Playhouse Disney show! My daughter will be thrilled!

I am curious about the tent they are using for the Concert series. Do you enter through the park or elsewhere. How big is it? I guess they want to be able to let in more people per show but I am going to miss the ABC theater.

I hope this new eticket could be the new indiana jones ride. Although, Narnia will be a nice addition if they do it right.

I think if the new Indy movie does well next summer they would have to green light a new ride for MGM.

    Great news, Ghostbuster.

The item I am most pleased about is the parade. If I have to see that moter car parade one more time I was going to shot myself. I remember when they would have a new parade each year for the new animated movie they were producing. Oh, the good old days!

I had heard something of a possible Indy ride too as a replacement for the dated stunt show especially now that they have the other more popular stunt show established.

Yeah, I agree. Lights, Motors, Action is a great stunt show that highlights a lot of today's stunt sequences done in hollywood.

Yeah always thought it was a bit weird that they have two stunt shows now. I love Motors Stunt show.

I would love to see a state of the art Indy attraction replace the current Indy show and we may get one now that a new movie is coming!

they need to do the next generation of a spiderman ride for indy. This will fit well. Or better yet, they should recreate that temple of doom mine cart "rollercoaster" sequence. That'd be awesome. They could do it almost like the Revenge of the Mummy coaster.

Re: Looks like Somethings afoot at MGM Studios...

just got back from califorinia and saw block party bash at dca. It was awsome and lots of fun, but I have concerns about it going into the studios. not for the floats, but for the performers. THis "parade" is very high energy and highly interactive and I am not sure the performers in florida can do all that is required in the middle of the day when the humidity reaches 80-95% those performers are going to melt. but if it can be done, it will be lots of fun!!!

ORDDU: My sisters and I have heard rumors that Disney M-G-M may actually be getting both the Narnia attraction AND an Indian Jones dark ride--like the one in CA. Since this park is the DCA of Florida, it really needs a lot of plussing up.

ORWEN: As for that new stunt show they have over there with the race cars, it does nothing for us Cauldron girls. We've seen it twice and that was too much. Now, maybe if they'd change it out and do something with witches doing stunts on brooms, it would hold our interests. In the meantime we're hearing it's already starting to lose it's appeal with guests.

I agree. I saw it once. I don't think I will see it again for a while.

And as for a witches' stunt show? you might have to travel to IOA to see that, since it sounds more like something that will fit in there in 2010.

Re: Looks like Somethings afoot at MGM Studios...

My only issue with both Indy and Narnia attractions is MGM's theme problem. MGM doesn't have an identity. The Sunset Blvd area gives a feeling of Old Hollywood, the stunt show and tram tour take you behind the scenes of production, the Muppet show is good but themed to cartoonish Hollywood, Star Tours is a giant Ewok Village, and Indy/Narnia rides would further complicate the theme. Are we watching a movie? In a movie? Making a movie? In Hollywood? MGM has a lot of questions to answer before they just start adding attractions. I think a blind need to add attractions is going to ruin the theme of this park and make it a bigger mess.

I completely agree. The first time I saw it I loved it! The second time.. not so much. It's not nearly as fun when you know what's going to happen.
