Question What's the gimick for 2007/08?

Does anybody know what the ''celebration" will be next year? I mean this year was YOAMD, Last year was the 50 years, what will the next year bring?

Or what would your ideas for it be?

    Here's my bet:

    Year of Magic!

A Walt Disney World vacation will be more magical than ever in 2008, with sparkly crap sprinkled all over the parks and great new attractions for your family to enjoy like Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom and Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor at the Magic Kingdom! There's never been a more magical time for your visit to Walt Disney World!

Think I can get a job in the marketing department?

My idea would be for a new celebration to start on October 1st celebrating Epcots 25th anniversary and have that celebration take place into next year. Of course that wouldn't be Disneyparks wide, as it shouldn't be, but I'd love to see that take place in Epcot.

And WDW as a whole could be "The Most Magical Place on Earth".

I get so sick of the "Celebrations." None of them are special if they happen every year, and it's not like a bunch of people are coming to the park BECAUSE of them.

While tongue in cheek, my 'joke' posting sums up what I think of the need for a 'celebration' every year. As they did with YOAMD, Happy Homecomings, 100 Years of Magic, etc. they'll likely just come up with a catchy but ultimately meaningless name, some superficial decorations and promote attractions that have nothing to do with the campaign. I personally don't think every year needs a gimmick; why not concentrate on building and promoting new attractions and tie your campaign around that? Everest, for example, could have been the focus for a very cool and extensive WDW advertising campaign.

ok, you have a sence of humor.... but this person asked a question, can we simply answer these questions first before tongue and cheek? Its hard enough getting answers to some questions with out having to go thru a throng of "tongue and cheek " jokes to get to the answer the person is asking. it just seems here lately people are more apt to derail the thread right off the bat then help people with there questions. not cool .

I think they'll continue the whole, YOAMD campaign.

No one knows, and people were asked for their suggestions. They used humor as a literary device, to suggest that no theme would be the best theme. In a very real sense, the tongue in cheek answers were legitimate answers.

If I was in charge, at least in Florida, I'd change the theme to Epcot 25.

I don't believe there should be anymore celebrations at WDW for a while, like a previous poster said they've had too many and they're not special anymore. They could use the money for these campaigns to put back into the parks themselves for maintenance, landscaping, etc. Then once that's been addressed, worry about celebrating.

gimmick: c : a trick or device used to attract business or attention <a marketing gimmick>

The topic asks about a gimmick. That is exactly what these celebrations have become. And while advents suchs as sound in Steamboat Willie were also gimmicks, they at least had some meaning to them. The celebrations need to take a hiatus for a few years. Ad campaigns are fine, but the gimmicks needs to stop.

The only gimmick I would accept is the 25th anniversary of EPCOT. Other than that, no gimmick should be the gimmick.
