    Angry Too Much Character Dining!

From this week's Mouse Planet WDW Update:

Tusker to go buffet: With the opening of Yak & Yeti in November, some additional shuttling takes place. Tusker House is converting to a buffet-only restaurant, open daily from 8:00-10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. until park close, and featuring Donald's Safari Breakfast, a new character meal. The Donald's Breakfastasaurus character breakfast at Restaurantosaurus closes November 5, though the restaurant itself remains open daily from 10:30 a.m. until park close.
Enough with the character dining already! Tusker House was a perfectly good restaurant, and now it's ruined with the onset of even more character dining.

its not 'more character dining' they are moving one breakfast from one restaurant to another.

This was discussed back here http://www.micechat.com/forums/showt...ghlight=Tusker

Well, even so....there is still far too much character dining in WDW. WDW only does this so that they can sell more dining plans. Good restaurants like Cinderella's Royal Table are practically ruined for those without kids. WDW is clearly catering to the family market and ignoring those who do not fit the mold.

Yep, I'll never forgive them for turning Restaurant Akershus into a Princess meet restaurant all day

Disney would lose on the dining plan patrons of these meals vs people that pay outright.

Besides - why does Disney do this? Because they can't keep enough capacity to fill the demand. Don't blame Disney for filling the demand people are asking for.

Or the Garden Grill at Epcot, the only place in that park you could get a real breakfast!

Don't equate not having kids with not wanting to do character dining.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Or having kids as automatically wanting to do them either....

i really only think of doing character meals for breakfast...but it is nice to have a few places like the crystal palace around for the buffet meals all day! we only do character meals when we go during the busy holiday season so that we don't have to wait in line for 2 hours to meet them!!

ORWEN: Well, I happen to LOVE dining with the many different Disney characters, myself. It's the best way to find characters you might not otherwise get to see. And the idea of complaining about finding characters inside Cinderella's Castle when it's HER HOME, of all things, just sounds ridiculous. Now, I can see why some people wouldn't want princesses to be found in the Norway restaurant at Epcot. But don't go trying to evict Cinderella from her own house! You wouldn't want somebody doing that to you, would you?

The only character dining I'll do is the Crystal Palace... only because it pretty much guarantees me some time with Tigger. But now he's pretty easy to find at Pooh's Boring Spot and the UK pavillion at Epcot. But I love the banana bread pudding with Bailey's sauce they have at Crystal Palace. YUM!

Have to agree on that. When the castle had King Stefan's Banquet it was fun and the food was good. Now it's reheated mush and screaming Britneys and Justins. In fact it's hell on earth and they expect you to pay $35 for the priviledge. Disney may have been targeted at families in the 50s but times have changed and groups are of many compositions these days. Thank Heaven for Jiko and the like where I can dine with my partner in relatively sane surroundings. Character dining used to be fun - Pooh's was a good one at the Crystal palace but unruly brats and pushy Moms have ruined it. Still, like someone on these threads keeps saying: If you Walmart it then expect the desired effect.
Now I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic !
