    Post Haunted Mansion refurb info

I don't think I saw this posted anywhere....

Another great addition to the mansion will be a completely new scene, taking place in the former spider scene. It's an all new multiple staircase scene, unique to Florida's mansion. There will also be other additions throughout the attraction scenes, including new props.

The new improved Haunted Mansion is set to open in September 2007. Don't expect it to reopen early though, as the timescales are apparently very tight to get everything completed.
There is also a picture of the stairs effect at the forums of that website.

Sounds exciting...hopefully I'll be down there soon and will be able to experience HM and SSE with the upgrades!

I'm hoping this is true. I'm a bit confused about the new scene though as the picture doesn't shed much light on it. Are we just going to see a bunch of staircases and how would they have room for that? Unless, of course the staircases are just projections of some sort but then why would they be building a model?

I personally don't like the floating head. Yes, its a cool effect... but loses (IMO) a good portion of the impression that it was a crystal ball like a fortune teller used

Now its this floating head.. rather then a fortune teller with a real 'vision' in the ball

I'm not sure either, but anything has to be better than the cheesy spiders, right?

Excellent news! Thanks for the update.

Hopefully the lines won't be too long in October - missed HM on our visit last year.

Outstanding! Ever since my very first time on WDW's HM back in 1979 or so, this area struck me as being way below the norm for a Disney ride. It looks like something that you might find in your local Halloween spookhouse. Very low tech, very lame. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with!

    Absolutely.

To remove them and leave the space empty would be an improvement, such is their visually jarring nature.

So this new stairway installation sounds very promising......sounds like this refurb is being done "right".........i.e. they're not taking the cheap option as with POTC.

Kirbilicious- If you look carefully at the pic you can see little candleabra's on the stairs, one of them is even upsidown. I'm guessing they will be traveling along the stairs in all sorts of directions.

Anyways, I am quite excited for the updates. The new stairway scene looks soooo much better then the cheap blacklight spiders. (Though on WDWMagic there was someone who didn't like them going away.)

It's also nice hearing it will be getting updated versions of the floating Leota and Bride.

I'm not crazy, now if you will excuse me I have tea time with the ghosts at Haunted Mansion.
