I just read this on screamscape... Anyone here anything about this. If this is true, it would make my day, as I love the GMR, but it has fallen apart over the years.

Some of the changes mentions include the removal of the Alien scene (Noooo!) in favor of a Lord of the Rings scene. There was also talk about bringing back certain water and bubble effects from the early portion of the ride and replacing the entire Western action scene with something that wouldn’t need that big costly fire effect. Tarzan may also be replaced with something new since Disney audiences associate more with the animated Tarzan film instead of the old live action Tarzan.
Personally I think what they need to do is upgrade the Alien scene to a scene from Aliens which could put their animatronic technology to the test by recreating a battle between the space marines and a horde of aliens. (Game Over Man!) Give the tour guide a machine gun and let them clear the way ahead as you go. How cool would that be? Kind of like a 21st century version of the old Battlestar Galactica attraction that was once part of the backlot tour at Universal Studios Hollywood.
