    New ECVs at Epcot

Thursday's guests renting ECVs (Electronic Convenience Vehicles) from Disney got a nice surprise - brand new ECVs! I haven't seen them personally yet, but I have been told that they are a bit more difficult for Cast Members to move again based upon where the levers are compared to the older ones. I'm not sure if this has been or with it will be at all four parks, but I can imagine it will be in time. But part of me wonders if it will happen at Studios before or after Super Soap weekend.

I wonder if they look very different? I plan to be at Epcot today, though I'm not sure anyone is interested in ECV photos!

Yes, they do look a bit different.

I don't think anyone would be too interested, but I figured why not post it. Last year Studios finally got the plastic strollers, so I figured this might be a trend of something else.

Feel free to take a photo or two and post it in here though Denise.

    Hi!

I found them. I took some pics - I'm putting them on my site, and I'll post here too once I'm done putting that up! People are interested in that type of thing.

I wasn't even sure where the wheelchairs were, now I do!

I think Disney should make their parks healthier and eliminate these. Most people who rent them, don't need them.

I have seen them at Magic Kingdom as well, but here are some at EPCOT that I saw today.

The most notable feature is how clean they are, but that will be gone soon.

I have a photo in my thread as well, but it pretty much looks like these! They do look clean right now.

While I would be lying if I said many guests don't need them, I think its a bit naive to say they shouldn't have them. My mom for one did need one when she went to visit. She doesn't need a wheelchair, but she has a steel rod in her back and bad knees. She can walk but not the long distances to get around the whole parks, especially going up and down hills. Being able to rent the ecv made her 1st trip to WDW at the age of 50 a magical one. If she had to walk the entire time she wouldn't have been able to see a 4th of what she did. Besides Disney would never give up on them since they are rental profits for the parks. On a related note when i was working my CP in BLT shuttles I had a lady in a Disney ECV w/ 2 other people w/ her. We always had to ask if you can transfer and before I got 2 words out of my mouth she snapped she wasn't getting out of her seat. Fine..no biggie..but the ironic part was that RIGHT behind her in a chair was a woman w/ 1 leg. I asked her if she could transfer and more power 2 her she hopped out of her chair w/ 1 leg (wearing a high heel no less) and hopped up the 3 steps into the trailer like it was nothing. Just kinda thought that was kinda interesting.
