NNL's End of Summer, Hello Fall Trip Report

Back from a week at the world!
Had a great great trip, especially the first two days!!
All my pics are in this Flickr collection

    so let's get started!!
first a big THANK YOU to the people who suggested Tylenol PM for my flight. I actually slept quite a bit on the plane, to my pleasant surprise.

Landed early early, and met up with brerrbit1. Arrived at the hotel - All Star Music - where they put him in a king bed room, which wouldn't do. So, instead of just an apology and getting him into a double room, they upgraded him to a newly remodeled family suite!!! Yay!! So, instead of staying in the plush hilton with DOOM BGI, i decided to crash there with him and Wally.... except the first night. I already had Yoyoflamingo's room waiting for me

    First sign of WDW!! eeee!!!

The gorgeous Wilderness Lodge, where yoyo was staying:

Finally met up with Yoyo and quickly checked out the room before we had to go to the Magic Kingdom to meet up with the others. WL was very nice, very rustic. I LOVED the lushness of the greenery, the lake... it was a nice place.

A few pics I don't think he posted:
The view out of his patio:

would never guess it was a resort inside disneyland.

The adorable towel creatures. I love how it looks like the swans are talking to each other.

And a hottie on the boat dock:

TONS more hotel pics in my FlickrHotel Set

We took the boat to the MK.

Every time I see the castle I tear up. I don't know why. It happens with DL's as well, it's more of a total relaxation there.

We met up with brerbit1 there. I can't tell you what we rode when (bad memory!) but there are some pics
Strollers... It really was amazing. And this isn't bad at all

The clock was striking as we were at the unload zone.

We spotted the dream team and tailed them to TSI's loading dock, where they disappeared. Ok, I'd never been on TSI so we scrambled over to check it out.

    HM construction:

Made me miss ours. This was pretty cool.

So we realized that the dream team was back on the dock and active so we rafted back to shore and won the pin lanyard! YAY!!!! Then it was onto Big thunder, my fave coaster and maybe my fave MK ride.

Skies were gloomy and sure enough when we were almost to the load zone they closed the ride. We decided to meet DOOM BGI at Columbia Harbor House for dinner. Mmmm, my favorite chix strips and their scrumptious fries. It was delicious!!!

    A little character stalking...

    freaky eye moving character watching...

    greenery imitating...

and characters hitting other characters with rope type things...

and Chris and Jonathan left, and Jeff and I had 2 hours alone in the park until it closed for the pirate princess thing. YAY!!! We rode some rides, including this favorite:

    We ended at Philharmagic.

And saw the stepsisters. I LOVE how WDW has such cool characters that DL doesn't!!

On the way out we saw Belle telling a story. What a gorgeous location for a princess meet and greet... and lit up it was just beautiful.

And one last traditional picture as we exited...

YES I bought Disney Crocs because it was supposed to rain, and MAN, am I glad I did!!!

Back to the wilderness lodge on the boat. When we arrived, the sun was setting.

We then relaxed in the room until it was time for the the electrical water pageant. What a cute little show. I was very impressed by the way the floats changed. And the fact that it's been around for like 30 years is impressive. As a bonus we were able to see the fireworks from the pirate princess thing

Then we walked around the grounds a bit. again I say... rustic charm, but beautiful grounds.

Jeff has a hidden Mickey book and he tried to point out the HM on the chimney of the fireplace. I FAILED. But here's a pic, far away and close up. I outlined it... go to my flickr to see that. It's hard to see! My camera sucks.

And that was the end of Day 1!!!
    Day 2 coming right up!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

There are many things we can fault with WDW but this is certainly not one of them.

The cinematic entrances and exits from the Magic Kingdom across the Seven Seas Lagoon by Boat or Monorail simply cannot be beaten. With Cinderella Castle looming ever larger in the morning as you arrive, and the lights disappearing into the distance on an evening as you leave.

    Magical.

    Looking forward to part 2!!

    Day 2!
Pics from both Day 1 and Day 2 are in this Flickr set

Day 2 started WAAAAY too early but I had an EMH date with.... DESTINY.
    In the form of this:

After months of screwing up my courage and riding Screamin, it was time for the next step! This ride was all right. I liked it better than I thought I would be but once a trip is fine with me.

Running out of time, Yoyo, Wally, Brerrbit and I dashed to EPCOT. I think by boat.
When I saw the de-wanded globe, I had to catch my breath. It was BEAUTIFUL. It was stunning. I couldn't stop looking at it, every time we were in EPCOT

    Just wanted to hug it!

Met up with Summer and WDWLakelandFL, and eventually DOOM BGI and rode Mission Space, First time for me to ride orange. It wasn't so bad. A little nausea at the end, I think because I hadn't eaten. But another once a trip ride, I think.

Caught the end of the mobile lab....
Was glad since I'd missed it at DL.
Have heard that it's going back to DL or over to TDL next

Ooh we also went to Club COOL.

And NEMO. I'd ridden it once in previews. I really like it, but I like the subs much better!! The animations with real fish is awesome "Big Blue World" became the theme of our trip.

Canada's new movie as debuting that day we we went to watch it. Since my memories of EPCOT from when I was a child are the ball and circlevision movies, I was excited to see one. It was a good movie.
    first, Jeff got stuck.

Then we went to Mexico to ride the new tres calleberos ride. My camera wasn't cooperating so this is all I have:

Then we got caught in a supr downpour. It was AWESOME!!!! And the very last time it'd do anything but sprinkle a little for the rest of the trip. Bummer. The sun was killing me by the last day.

left to right.... SummerinFL, DOOM BGI, yoyoflamingo, brerbit1, ME!! and WDWLakelandFL. Wally was taking the pic.

Headed toward the monorail and to meet up with EvilQueenRocks.
Pretty picture but aren't flags supposed to be taken down in a storm?

Yay! First time on WDW monorail this trip!! I barely rode it this trip

Hopped on and headed to Magic Kingdom with one thing on our minds....
    FIGARO FRIES!!!!!

Look so GROSS but taste so GOOD!!!!
MK was a madhouse, with even the carrousel line stretched very long.

I think Jeff posted this but we both look so freaking cute I had to repost:

After that it was time for Jeff to leave I went with him back to the hotel to say goodbye.

    Yeah that was really tough.
Back to MK, where I met up again w/the others. Can't remember what all we rode. We had dinner at Cosmic Ray's. I really like that place. WDW food is AWESOME. Great variety and it tastes GOOD.

Summer and EQR left and the other 4 of us watched the lame fireworks (ok we mostly talked through them) then went back to the hotel.

    Ok, hotel pic post next.
    Good morning, son

Indeed. the boats are just an extra magical touch and seeing space and the castle and then main street station was awesome. Yoyo kept telling me to wait for the perfect pic opportunity. I like the one I posted the best.

Love the trip report so far. Can't wait to read more.

We were at MGM and Epcot the Friday it rained so hard.

And I would like to add that I am really mad (not angry-just "grrrr"). I was at MK three weeks ago and I asked one of the character handlers in Fantasyland if Cinderella's step family still did meet and greets. She was very short (speaking-not stature) and rude to me.and said "no".

I am glad they are still around. They are some of the funnest characters that I have seen.

Re: NNL's End of Summer, Hello Fall WDW Trip Report

    Hotel post...
So I started the trip in a deluxe and spent the rest of the time in a value. There was def a difference... even in the shampoo and shampoo bottles. Having a suite was NICE, very roomy and the 2 bathrooms were really the best part. Definitely speeded things up in the morning!

    First, 2 pics for Hayleyb:

I was taking a pic of these 2 when the lifeguard came outta nowhere and jumped right in!

We were in Calypso 10 (Calypso 1 is the other) Calypso is the closest building to to the main lobby BTW. So convenient. It also has a close drop off zone for cars, which was handy at night when we were tired and DOOM BGI was nice enough to drive us.

The guitar shaped pool. The fountain would spit out water occasionally

    Our stairwell.

Our animal... WHAT it was who knows. A bird we think. Roberto was our housekeeper but sadly he never gave us another animal

I wanted to steal this lamp. Is that bad?

The suite sleeps 6 - a king bed, fold out couch, fold out chair and fold out ottoman. Though it's not that roomy so the 6th person would have to sleep in the kitchen LOL

I don't have too many comparisons but here's the coat rack... wilderness lodge vs the plastic of ASM

Kitchenette came w/plates, cups, bowls and plasticware and a fridge of course

On Sunday we went exploring around the ASM resort. It's HUGE.
    I think this is Jazz.

looking toward the guitar pool and main lobby

    fountain in the middle:

    At the other pool....
there are boom boxes at the end.

    Broadway... wonderfully themed.

    central park...

    the country building...

    This was the50s or something

Loved the theming of the luggage cars:

One last post... this was some's window display.
it was a stuffed bunny rabbit and a rubber duck LOL!

I liked the All Star, but the first few days and last few days it was CRAWLING with kids. Running and screaming outside our window at 8 a.m. The wilderness lodge was definitely a lot more subdued and nicer, but for a value the ASM wasn't bad at all.

One other minor thing the WL had peanut butter but the ASM only had jelly

Oh and the staff was EXCELLENT! Except the one cashier who was slow as molasses. I can't remember specific names, but the manager who upgraded us when he totally didn't have to, the greeter guy at checkin who was totally nice and the other guy in the gift shop who chatted with us when Adam and I picked up our packages... All really great!

All my hotel pics are in this Flickr set
