Yes, a new location would be nice. Studios and DAK remain with their Christmas trees outside of the park now and that means no tree lighting ceremony for them! While DAK isn't even open late enough except during EMH for one, it would be fun to have one at Studios. Maybe in time it will happen again, but not anytime in the near future.

With that in mind, here is a night photo from my most recent trip. (Disney was working on improving the lighting on the hat at this time so the white/gold part wasn't lit up.)

How about a swap? The Christmas tree (seasonally at the green circle) and the BAH (pink circle) could just swap locations.

Not to go off-topic (as if this thread ever was on topic), but I love the hat. Much more original (and better looking) imo, then copycat theater facade (which only really contains a portion of the queue) and the boring fake water tower (which really can only be seen during the Backlot Tour). And yes, I love the hat the most at night. But I mean yeah, if you want pictures of the structure, Google should turn up many.

I, too, think the hat has a certain cool factor and should stay, somewhere connected with the Studios. At its current location as a mid-park icon, it's just a bit too ... gaudy? That's why I proposed a swap rather than an outright removal.

Why does that hat look so cool when you see it from the entrance, but once you get closer it's kinda blah. Then its a total disappointment when you finally reach it and that giant magical hat is nothing but... a store.

With the wand coming down in EPCOT does that mean the hat will join it?

And once you get passed Hollywood Blvd you realize the Theater is nothing but a copycat facade. And once you ride the backlot tour, you realize the water tower is nothing but.... well.... nothing. And once you go in the Castle, you realize it is just a boutique (and a restaurant too, but if you didn't know that already you'll likely won't be going to it).

Both structures were meant to last roughly same time (which would mean a decision on the hat would be made around 2009-ish). However, unlike the wand, the Hat became the instant symbol of the park and unlike the Wand, the hat has to deal with restrictions placed on the facade behind it. So I'd be surprised if its removed anytime soon.

:) I figured a little eye bleach could leave the eyes intact while removing the offending image from them!

I think I know what restrictions you're talking about regarding the theater, but I still don't see what that has to do with the hat. Being next to, in front of, besides, or behind the theater wouldn't keep Disney from moving the hat to the current Christmas tree spot, would it?
