WDW New Years Eve

So it appears that I will be making my Walt Disney World Trip from Dec. 30th -Jan 4th. Thanks to all who answered my questions about the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It looks like the decision has been made to stay there.

Time for a new question.

My CM Main Gate Pass is blocked out on New Years Eve, so while I can get into the parks, my friends can not. Does anyone know of anything else happening on Resort property for New Years Eve that doesn't involve going to the parks. Should I call the Hotel and see if they have anything planned?

You mean... there is more to do besides the parks and PI at WDW on new year's eve??

Actually, your maingate is not blocked for Epcot on NYE if I'm correct...

Last time I checkd the old Maingate is only not blocked out for AK on NYE

Just incase your not blocked from Epcot:
When we have been at WDW over New Year's Eve we have gone to Epcot. The World Showcase is impossible and if you have small children in your party -FORGET IT! However, Future World is pretty peaceful! Except for all those dumb tooty-horns the hand out for free!!!!

They usually have concerts by "big name" artists... usually a bunch of 80's has-beens or people I've never heard of. But now the West End stage is gone and anyone is free to walk through PI so I have no idea what they do now.

They also used to have a BIG food/dessert buffet spread across the island, but now I heard it's dessert only.

Then there's the usual countdown to midnight and some fireworks.

Be prepared for large crowds!

Yes! We went one year and it sounded like a park full of geese. And then it rained.


But it was really interesting to be in the different countries when they celebrated their New Years. A lot of the castmembers would meet in the street for their own countdown.
