Hot off the press! On October 20, 2007, the Iron Spike Room at the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge in WDW will be rededicated to become the Carolwood Pacific Railroad Room. Michael Broggie, founding chairman of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society will be on hand. The room will be filled with memorabilia of the Carolwood Pacific Railroad, Holmby Hills, California.(For those who may not know, it was Walt Disney's personal backyard miniature steam train layout, that grew into a little theme park in Anaheim. Walt lived on "Carolwood" Drive.)
For those who can't be in Florida in October, come see WALT'S BARN, the birthplace of 'Imagineering'. (It was relocated from Walt's backyard.) Located in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, on the grounds of Los Angeles Live Steamers area. Open every Sunday, 11am-3pm. Free admission, free parking!
If you want to feel what it was like to ride Walt's backyard train, visit the Los Angeles Live Steamers next door. This is also with free parking and free
admission, however, donations are greatfully accepted at both locations.
(Of course, there are some restrictions with those who can ride: height, age, and no flash photography, etc.)
Take it from the bear, he was there!
