FantasticDuck's First WDW Duck Hunting Trip Report! (September 15-21)

We left Ohio around 8pm Friday September 14. Of course we were off to a late start as I got out of work late and had to finish packing when I got home. But it's all good as we were going to DISNEY WORLD!!!! I hadn't been in 10 years, with the exception of a quick trip to Animal Kingdom in 2003, and it was my sweetie's first trip that he can remember (his parents took him when he was a baby). I was SO excited!

We stopped around 1am in Tenessee and took off the next morning at 11am. We weren't in too much of a hurry as we weren't going to hit the parks until Sunday, so we took our time. We both collect toys (Donald Duck for me and Transformers for him) so we hit a few Walmarts on the way down. We were looking for the Sega UFO Claw Machines that held the Disney prizes so I could add to my Duckie collection. We finally got to the Walt Disney World sign at about 11:30pm Saturday night (pardon the bad picture, I had jumped to get my camera and took a quick pic):

We checked in to All Star Movie Resort and got our "Keys to the World" and headed to our 1st room! (They didn't have a king-sized bed so we'd be switching rooms on Tuesday).

Yeay! Mickey Head to greet us when we walked in:

    Our room:

And of course no vacation would be complete without my sweetie trying to make it as cold as possible in the room. Most hotels have the vents blowing out over the bed, for some reason this hotel had the vents blowing into the side of the TV. This is what he had the room temp set at, but I don't think it ever felt below 72 or so in there:

O, and we have identical cameras and kept getting them confused so these pictures are a combination from both of our cameras. Together we took almost 900 pictures!

OHhh can't wait to see all the photos. I will be staying at POP century resort come Halloween and it makes me happy that there are still some magical "towel" moments to be experienced at the value resort hotels.

Yay! Can't wait to see more! I too have experienced AC trouble at All Star Movies, I wonder if others have the same issue? We like it cold but ours wasn't even working!

Trust me, there are a TON of Duck pictures! It's mainly all I took! I called it the "duck hunting" trip report because when we go out to look for Donald/Daisy/Scrooge/nephew stuff we call it "duck hunting".

We have some of the normal shots, but then took the approach that the duckie stuff we see down there we won't be able to see at home and took a bunch of pictures of the "hidden" Donald stuff (I don't know if it was considered hidden or not, but I squealed like a little kid everytime I saw something duckie ).

I'll post day 2 tonight when I get home from work!!

Why can't I see the pics?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Re: FantasticDuck's First WDW Duck Hunting Trip Report! (September 15-21)

    Day 2: Magic Kingdom!!

So we slept in a bit and headed off to the Magic Kingdom at about 9:15am the next morning. I knew my sweetie was geting into it when we were sitting on the bus and he pointed out this cloud that seems to resemble the fantastic duckie:

But yeay! We were finally at our destination! We scanned our tickets and walked in. We were on our way to get my birthday button and his first timers button and look who we ran into!

    Ms. Daisy herself:

Then we drifted through the shops. We wound up in the pin shop and made the mistake of picking up a couple of pins. We wound up bringing home 2 more lanyards and almost 50 pins! Then it was out to Main Street and a few shots of Cinderella's pretty home:

After Main Street we wandered over to Tomorrowland and I took him on Space Mountain. We walked right on the ride! And have they cahnged this ride? It seemed a lot more exciting then I remembered! We lost my autograph book on this ride (it fell out of the bag). Luckily I had written my name and our resort name in it while waiting for Daisy to sign it (I had actually done that so i could add it to my others). We got a message the next morning that they had found it and it was being held at the Lost and Found at the Kennel and we could go get it! I was highly impressed! I had just chalked it up as lost. Wow!

After Space Mountain it was time for some lunch. We opted for Cosmic Rays as it was close by.

I had opted us up for the free Dining Plan when I scheduled our trip. I have never used the Dining Plan before and WOW! that's a TON of food! I had explained it to my sweetie and he told me he was telling people at work about it and thought that what he was saying didn't sound right. He was VERY impressed with the Dining Plan and even more impressed it was free! We wrote down on our receipts how much each meal would have cost us to see what we were saving.

    After lunch we headed to:

Donald's Boat was closed (BOO!!!), so I had to make due finding duckies in Minnie's & Mickey's houses.

    Minnies House:

I found Mickey's bedroom to be hysterical:

And some hidden duckies from Mickey's house:

Then it was over to Mickey's Philharmagic. This show was AMAZING! Wow! I LOVED IT!

After this we took the Monorail to the Polynesian for dinner at Ohana. YUM! Dinner here was FANTASTIC!

    My sweetie with the sign:

The chef here was FANTASTIC! He came out and talked to my about my weird food allergies (blue food dye, ginger and caramel) and told me the only thing i couldnt have was the pork and they served dessert with the caramel on the side so he could try it. I wasn't even offered the pork and the waiter made sure that he held that skewer in a different hand (he didn't have to go that far, but he did!). I was amazed. The potatoes were SO YUMMY! Everything was! The steak and pork were my faves.

    The food:

    The dessert:

During dinner it started POURING the rain (go figure, it is Florida!). But by the time we got back to our resort this is what greeted us:

    A Double rainbow

And then to my delight I find out that our resort shop is:

    With these little guys inside:

Up next: Day 3 with Animal Kingdom (and Donald's Breakfastosaurus) and Downtown Disney!

Was that cloud photoshopped - it really does look like Donald?!? Neat picture!

Really enjoying your TR...now that it's past midnight, only 9 days until my trip (woo hoo!), and it's really getting me excited .

The Toontown pics are great...I can't remember the last time I went through the houses - great job!
