Or is the DDP the main priority these days and the average guest (including the Brits who love WDW and usually stay off-site) doesn't matter?

The best way to express your concern is to simply but clearly state what your problem is.

It has become very difficult to make ADR's and almost impossible to get day of / walk up spots in any resaruant in any of the parks. Please address this problem.

To make claims about price points, and free DDP, and other things only muddies the waters and obfuscates the point - we would like to be able to eat a sit down dinner without having to plan it 180 days out.

That then leaves the door open to Disney management on how they want to address the problem. Increase the price of the DDP, get rid of the free ones, limit the number of DDP reservations, limit the number of people allowed on the DDP on any given day, build more restaruants, expand the ones they have, etc etc.

So they can not offer the plan and have it sit 1/4 full or have the meal plan at a $10 savings or so and see it fill up. That's not to mention many people wouldn't order an appy, entree, and desert without the plan and wouldn't be spending $30 there anyway. So with the meal plan, they end up making more profit. Restaurants that ran full anyway are hurt a bit with the meal plan. But those were the character troughs and 'Ohana that weren't $40 anyway. So they certainly aren't hurt much. And if people use their sit down credits at breakfast, so much the better for Disney.

Some of those "other costs" are back of house costs. When you are serving per portioned par boiled chicken breast with canned mushrooms and a "marsala" sauce straight from the Minor's factory floor you pay a lot less for prep then when you have "real" chefs working the line back there.

Cinderellas Royal Table is a different story - food costs per plate there have to be rock bottom. That's just steam table heat lamp chow.

You need to add in the factor that Disney is preying on little girls and their passion for princesses - particularly Cinderella. So you'll weather an average breakfast just to see the delight on your child's face and be set back $40 a head for the priviledge. Hardly a "Royal Table".
By far and away - if your daughter(s) wants to meet Cindy then do so at the Gala Feast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. At least they serve food there!

Re: Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner - Now fixed menu :(

cinderella's royal table has always been two DDE tickets as well as california grill and the dinner shows at fot wilderness and polynesian luau. Disney has always had some sort of dining plan but I believe they tended to include buffets and the lower end park restaurants. I have always believed that they either need to change the plan significantly that makes more sense with what patrons not on the plan pay.
