I wanted to go see Fantasmic a few weeks ago, but the weather was too unpredictable. Now that we are entering Fall, the rain is starting to lessen and the temperature is finally starting to drop - a little. So, I headed to Disney-MGM Studios thinking that the crowds would be fairly light. Uh, not quite, as some of my pics will show. I wondered to myself where all of these people were coming from, but all I had to do was open my ears (and eyes, to a lesser extent). I would guess by what I heard and saw that the VAST majority of the guests were from the UK and Brazil. So, let that be a warning to those planning vacations to WDW soon. The crowds may not match the size of those in the summer or the winter holidays, but don't expect the parks to be empty.
I arrived at the park around 6 and walked around a little. Here are a few of the pictures.
OK, I know this has been said before, but I just can't help it. This monstrosity totally SUCKS! The pictures posted online do not fully convey the gravity of the injustice that has been done to the original designers of the park. This hat is HUGE and HIDEOUS, and it hides a beautiful reproduction of the Chinese Theatre behind it. It almost brings a tear to my eye. What on Earth were they thinking????
Yet another Midway Mania construction shot

I always wondered what they did to the theatre they used to show previews in after the backstage tour. They turned it into an exhibit of Walt Disney memorabilia. It's nice to see all of this stuff again. It's kinda like the lobby of the Opera House at Disneyland used to be many, many years ago in that there is a recreation of Walt's office at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.
7 p.m. came quickly, so I headed to the theatre where they show Fantasmic. I was surprised at how many people had already arrived an hour early. Here's a tip - if you want a seat in the front and center, you need to be there as soon as they open the theatre. Yeah, that does seem obvious, but like I said before, I did not think the theatre would fill up so quickly.
These pictures were taken an hour before the show started.
Fantasmic! is next!
