Yes, had I not experienced it myself I would not have believed that this could be true.

    I like the new banner

WDW needs some competition, badly. There are so many things at WDW that can be spiffied up or made just plain better (not that I didn't enjoy my time there). I can't wait to see Harry Potter at IOA !!!!

Also, another reason why I like IOA/Universal.....they have Starbucks!!!! I was so incredibly irritated that I couldn't find a soy latte at WDW, not even at Epcot.

I will be doing the same in the future, for the same reasons

Fantastic report!!! IOA looks very nice. I may just have to consider adding this to our WDW plans (well, once we save up enuf money).

Thanks for the update, and the sarcastic remark!

Animal Kingdom really looks like it has some great theming. Looking forward to seeing more!

lol Yay everyone! Go to IOA I should start collecting commission from Universal.

    Back to WDW....

    Day 5 continued

(back to) Animal Kingdom - Tiger Walk

Still killing time for our safari FP, the tiger walk was next. I very much enjoyed this area. So much to look at and I think it was the most beautifully themed area in the park.

The first animal I saw was this. Sorry I can't remember what it the heck was.

The bat house. That would be nothing in between us and the bats.

    Tiger where?

    There it is...kinda.

Didn't get too many pictures of the kitty because I was too distracted by the building surrounding it and all its glorious detail.

    Moving along....

    Animals!

    Peacock?

While we were here a CM told butterflylark that there was a hidden mickey on this wall. So I went searching for it with the zoom.

    Is it there? Nope

    Here? Nope

    There he is

    More prettyness

    A birdie

    More random scenery

There's a bird up there, can you see it?

That's it for the tiger walk.

    Next.... onto the safari

great report Mousercise. That first animal your saw is a Malayan or Asian Tapir. They are an endangered species founf in Southeast Asia and the East Indies.

I'm a bit of an animal geek.

    Day 5 Continued

    Safari Time!!

At this point it was finally time to use our FP's.

Pal Mickey caught a ride from Asia over to Africa.

Tips for a happy safari ride

A funny little sticker on the inside of the ride vehicle

    Animals!

    It's a baby giraffe!

Elephant! (yes I only know the obvious ones )

    Some tree?

    The End!!

Overall, very good experience I'm glad we went back to AK for it and that it was cooler that day. There were a lot of animals out and about.

Skipped Everest on this day since we had gone on it three times already. But this is probably as good a place as any to post my favorite souvenir of the trip: a snow ball santa yeti from AK

Too bad for me , I gave them all away as gifts.

    Bye Animal Kingdom

    Next... MGM

I wouldn't have either if Coheteboy didn't mention it. It was tucked in the back of Asia. So glad we went, it was my favorite thing in the park.

Edit: The official name is Maharajah Jungle Trek

Re: WDW Invasion II Trip Report by Mousercise

    Day 5 - the conclusion

    MGM

After a reasonable bus ride to from AK we made it to MGM.

I never really understood what the big deal was about the hat until I saw it in person. It just doesn't belong.

    The entrance to Fantasmic.

First thing we did was grab FP's for Tower then we rode Rock'n Roller Coaster using the Single Rider line which took no time at all.

I thought it was just meh. Wasn't great, wasn't bad.

After we met up with Jeff we went on the Great Movie Ride.

    Mary Poppins Carousel Horse

Didn't care for this ride. We were in the last train and a lot of it didn't make sense because the scenes and the dialog were really geared for the front car. Also, that part with the "gangster" was just terrible and the munchkins were creepy. I think this where I said "thank you" to a CM for courteously asking me to put my rice crispy treat away in the queue. Given the rest of the week's experiences it was such a subconscious reaction.

    Next it was onto Tower

They did such a great job with the queue. It really feels like you are walking into a hilltop hotel with actual grounds. Not like at DCA where you pretty much go straight into the lobby.

for this one. Much better than DCA's. Longer and the car moves outside of the elevator shaft. So sad we didn't get to go on it a second time. We had planned on doing it before Fantasmic but ran out of time and then the park closed as Fantasmic was starting

After tower it was onto the Animation Building.

A sea of strollers (and people think the number of strollers at DL is bad)

Pal Mickey wanted us to go in.

And it was the same drawn to animation show they had a DCA. Yawn

Exhibits in the boring and not so aesthetically pleasing animation building

I don't know what this was about, she was on the phone.

At the exit Pal Mickey found a friend

After the Animation building we met up with DOOM BGI for dinner at 50's Prime Time. The food was good, our server was just ok. I think he called butterflylark sis a couple of times and told Coheteboy to get his elbows off the table but that was it.

    Walking around the park...

I wanted to see this but the timing just didn't work out. That's the bad thing about shows, you are at the mercy of their scheduling.

I'd really like to see this stuff turned on

Inside the Muppet Store. Sets from one of the Muppet Movies as Pal Mickey informed us.

    Didn't go on this

Before heading over to Fantasmic we saw one of the worst shows.

It was just so silly... Under the Sea at the beginning.....the dog . The girl playing Ariel had a nice voice but I didn't enjoy her rendition of Part of Your World.

On to Fantasmic. The Wolfpack set up a nice private party at on a patio at the back of the theater. I was very glad to not be in the sea of humanity in the theater.

This show is the same concept as DL except it has a theater, a fake moat, and it felt longer to me.

Instead of Peter Pan you get Pocahontas. I didn't enjoy this part.

Jafar was also a strange addition

    Oh no Mickey!

    It's no Mark Twain

Really glad I wasn't in that. We waited for most of the crowd to spill out of the arena, took at least 10 minutes.

I think it's nice that they have a Fantasmic at WDW, it just isn't the same as DL's.

To sum it up, MGM not my favorite park

Later that night we went to Pleasure Island for some fun at Adventurers Club and Mannequins. Sorry, no pics. I was too busy paying attention to my drink

Next ... last full day at WDW.
