LAX. It was gonna be a red-eye flight to Orlando, FL and what that means to me is that I'm going to be an extremely tired person come Sunday.

You see, I just can't sleep on planes. I tend not to take sleeping pills or things like that but maybe I should have.

The flight to Orlando was at 10:30pm or so and I had an aisle seat with some annoying old couple next to me. They were annoying because they wouldn't stop yammering on their cellphone prior to take-off.

The in flight movie was Evan Almighty. I remember when planes showed movies that weren't on DVD already.

    DAY 1 -- Sunday, October 21, 2007
    Orlando, Florida

It's certainly a much nicer airport than LAX!

Here, some familiar faces board the monorail portion of the airport.

It was about 6am local Florida time and all of us were exhausted. But the Disney Magical Express people weren't. They were wide awake and doing their best to wake or cheer us up.

    Here's our bus. Fancy!

Monorail Man, Savik, and Dustysage on our "DME" to WDW. The onboard video was rather silly showing the Disney characters on their own WDW vacation, just to show us the ropes.

At last we arrived at DISNEY'S PORT ORLEANS RESORT: FRENCH QUARTERS!

The walkway to the pool is lined with gators.

Though we checked in, our rooms wouldn't be ready until 3pm at the latest so we were pretty much out of options. I decided to get some breakfast at the resort's food court.

A lady came around to hand everyone some coins. They had no monetary value nor were they filled with chocolate. My trip begins with disappointment.

The food court area is filled with all sorts of decorations that remind you of Mardi Gras, New Orleans, and other random things.

Two penguins are among the more random of items.

Here's the main mascot for the French Quarters: a scary jester.

Here's my food. The bounty platter that ran about $8 and change. I also bought the refillable mug for $13, good for your entire stay at the resort.

Looks like we have a bit of a pest problem....

After food, it was time to hit up the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World!

Unlike Disneyland, the monorail service at WDW is really tailored for transportation.

    The Magic Kingdom train station

More day 1 to come! (i have to go through a thousand more images!)

Re: 10.21.07-10.27.07 -- Coheteboy's 3rd Trip to WDW (Mice Invasion II)

    DAY 1 continued...
    THE MAGIC KINGDOM

Being a guy who grew up with Disneyland, my first two trips to WDW were a bit odd. It's a feeling similar to culture shock or something of another... or being in a bizarro world where things are familiar yet completely upside down.

Hopefully this third trip to WDW will be the charm and I'll be able to appreciate the parks for what they are and what they're not. But don't worry, I won't hesitate to point out my critical analysis along the way!

    City Hall on Main Street..

Instead of the Main Street Opera House, MK has the Exposition Hall, which is home to Tony's Restaurant, a store, some cardboard cut-out photo area, and a small theater showing classic Disney shorts.

By now I was exhausted and drenched in sweat. The exposition hall was the best idea all day as me and my buddy Jeff sat and watched some toons.... and hammed it up for the camera.

Marcie and her daughter were also in the theater watching the toons so we took some photos with her also.

    Drink Diet Coke!

Finally rested, we go outside to find a familiar wooden boy...

And Zach Braff as a chicken. The sky will fall later on that day.

View of castle on Main Street

    Casey's Coke Corner.

    More to come...

Dude, Tylenol PM. I don't sleep in public at all but that stuff WORKS on planes.
    Can't wait to see more.
Hope you liked the parks this time.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

That is what I use for plane rides too. Tylenol (or other) PM, some ear plugs and an eye mask.

Re: 10.21.07-10.27.07 -- Coheteboy's 3rd Trip to WDW (Mice Invasion II)

THANKS for all the kind words, you guys! There's quite literally a ton more photos so i'll try to keep this update running as fast as possible so you don't get bored.

Now, the very first attraction I wanted to do at Magic Kingdom of course was the WEDWAY PEOPLE MOVER!!! Otherwise known as the Tomorrowland Transit Authoritay.

YAY, I love that this is still there. It's great!

    My seat awaits...

The views along the way of the Autopia... I mean the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. The fumes are pretty bad. I think they should update this soon! But please don't make it another cartoon attraction. A speedway of the future would do just fine. Kinda like Nintendo's F-Zero!

There's a ton of Space Mountain signage on your trip..

Astro Orbitor doesn't look as iconic as I envisioned it, but it's still a sight for sore eyes.

After the tour of Tomorrowland, I walked around to explore. This theater sat empty.

The toy story aliens are all over this rocket shaped kiosk.

Eew, such tacky signage for Buzz Lightyear! But you gotta give it credit for being the original! Though I wouldn't have minded checking this ride out again, I never got around to it.

That guy Mickey is all over the place! Mickey's Startraders store is similar to what we have at Disneyland, though it's located closer to where Tomorrowland Terrace would be.

Back at the hub are the Halloween decorations. These are really nice touches. I like.

Almost immediately it was time for some Family Fun Day Parade. What makes this one special is that it stars... THE GUESTS. I didn't wait around to see how this one was but I enjoyed seeing some classic characters!

Then it was time to head to the meet at Noodle Station!

Some Main Street regulars were in our way...

This lady started to hit on my friend Jeff...

And then we sang a really silly song conducted by this guy...

At the meet was Mousercise and Butterflylark.

Mousercise had a new ride buddy called PAL MICKEY. He basically talks constantly!!!

The Orlando Fun Tickets guy also stopped to pay a visit. Nice guy!

He gave us a lanyard and a Pluto pin! This is my first lanyard and I'm now on a downward spiral into pindom. O_O

    THE MEET!

SNOWWHITERAVEN showed me the insides of her pal mickey. And I thought he smelled bad from the outside! e_e

The powers that be decided that lunch was at Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland so off we went!

    more to come...

Tylenol PM works wonders but I hate the feeling after you wake up. It takes soooo long to get rid of the groginess!

But CB great pics so far. I can't wait to see the rest!

Re: 10.21.07-10.27.07 -- Coheteboy's 3rd Trip to WDW (Mice Invasion II)

Day 1 -- Magic Kingdom continued

Lunch was set for Cosmic Ray's, which occupies the Tomorrowland Terrace area of Tomorrowland (for you Disneylander's who have never been to WDW).

There's something about Cosmic Ray's ordering method that annoyed me quite a bit though. They had a rather wide variety of choices, but three different areas to order from. If you want Chicken, it's Bay 1. If you want Burgers, it's Bay 2. If you want Sandwiches, it's Bay 3. What if you had a big family with a ton of picky eaters? You would literally have to send them in their own line to get the food they want while you're another line.

The good thing is that the kid's menu is pretty much identical in all three bays. But the grownups would have to pick the same thing or split up. Not a huge fan of that.

The food though, I'm happy to point out is LESS expensive than Disneyland! And another thing I was stoked to see is that they had a LARGE drink option! I remember when I could do that at Disneyland but now it's just one size fits all. Is it because CA is more health conscious? Or because Florida is just so humid that people need to drink more? I'm not sure. But I'm happy to be able to order a large again!

I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger with fries. I was impressed with the toppings bar that offered grilled onions and mushrooms... all you want! Even though I hate onions and mushrooms, I appreciate that they're there! Plus mountains of BBQ sauce for those who want it.

In the future, you can't feed the birds. Even if you have tuppence.

After lunch I was eager to check out Mickey's Philharmagic, just to see if CA really needed to have something that was 5 years old.

The inside queue area had a lot of artwork to look at. Even the backside of Mickey.

Hmmm... it was a fun 3D show and I liked the use of wide wide screen, but it kinda doesn't make any sense at all. Why would Donald go through random scenes of popular Disney films? And is Mickey the Sorcerer now? He has magic even without the hat. I'm not quite sure what to think of it really. It was fun and the CG was good but I'm not sure if it has longevity. I hope it does and that it will grow on me more with time. It's certainly not bad! It's just not a concept that goes well on me.

The Mad Tea Party is enclosed in MK. With all the crazy weather, it's understandable why.

Then it was off to the Haunted Mansion!
