So, what is the full story of why the treehouses were retired? Great report so far - I like that you're breaking it up into smaller chunks. Keep it all coming!

    Thanks for the kind words!
The treehouses were retired after they were damaged in a storm.
Apparently, the fact that they are built on now protected wetland,
combined with the fact that it's practically impossible to bring them up to ADA Code standards means that they won't be available to guests anytime soon.

However, we were told that they now house cast members on the international college program.

Thanks - here's another pic for you...

Hopefully I'll get chance to post another installment tonight.
    Stay tuned!

Re: PeaJay's Late Late Honeymoon Trip Report

It's back! (Slow & steady wins the race...)

    So, Sunday 7th continued -

After lunch we caught the bus back from Downtown to POFQ
(although it took ages as it went via Typhoon Lagoon and every stop at Riverside before getting us "home".)
Caught forty winks and then drove out to Fantasia Gardens Mini-Golf -

The entrance to the best mini golf on Disney property.

"You little son of a b!#ch ball! Why you don't you just go home? That's your HOME!
Are you too good for your home? ANSWER ME!"

The flowing wine is in no way responsible for the quality of our game.

Dancing Hippos, Elephants and Crocodiles do their best to get in the way.

The penultimate hole is surrounded by a water feature full of lost balls.

Yensid watches over the final hole (it swallows your ball and water erupts)

I love a well-themed mini golf course, and on my last visit I was blown away by Fantasia Gardens.
But this time something was just a little off.
It might have been that this was the only cloudy, slightly rainy time of the whole trip,
but I noticed several little problems - sporadic effects, peeling paint etc that didn't ruin it for me, but took the shine off.

Headed back to the resort and took a walk along the river to Riverside.
We tried to get a walk-in at Boatwright's (an hour wait - no thanks!),
and ended up at the Riverside Mill food court. I had the roast beef and K enjoyed the custom made pasta.
For some reason I don't have pictures of any of this...

It was another late night at the MK, so we hopped on a bus and got there for 9.15...

Coming up - thoughts on Stitch, how to walk on to 2 major attractions, midnight character meets and disaster as Peco Bill's runs out of tea!

I've never seen Fantasia Gardens before. It's beautiful, and looks like a "hole in one" lot of fun! Do they play Fantasia music while you are on the course?

The shots of the lucky bride and groom are beautiful - especially the ones with the castle in the background.

This looks like a friendly dragon in the pic below. Doesn't happen to know Mushu, does he?

Enjoyed the report. It is a real treat. Thank you. Hope each day of your lives together are as wonderful as your honeymoon,

I believe some holes play Fantasia music as a reward for finishing.

On a related note, across the parking lot for FG are two big tent-like structures, one of which is labeled (I think) Dancing Hippos.
They open on to a small beach area.
Anybody know what these are used for?

i'm going to be looking into the mistery of the tent-like structures next week. You have me intrigued over it now,

I love the clever slogan for Fantasia Gardens - "The Hippo-est Place On Earth".

Great TR!! I love that it's nearly been a month since it was last updated and still I'm interested. I'm going to WDW in May and staying at Port Orleans. Glad to hear you liked it. And I am def. going to have to check out the mini golf.

Thanks for sharing, it's nice to finally see one of the golf courses in someone's trip report. I still have yet to do them and plan to when I return for 2008 trips.
