Re: Yak and Yeti Review/Photos (over 100)

I have been looking forward to this report all week! Thanks, Denise, for giving us a first look at this much-needed facility. We are on the verge of pinning down our plans for January, so I will be calling for PS in the next day or two.

The MiceChat Story:
4 Years ago, I found a little fairy sprite trapped in a tree. She pleaded for me to set her free, and I did. As she flew off, she showered me in twinkling dust and told me that I should make a wish before the last sparkle faded away. I wished with all my heart for a way to unite all of my friends and create a magic place where we could be together whenever we wanted, wherever we were in the world. And the wish came true.

Re: Yak and Yeti Review/Photos (over 100)

Denise, thanks for this terrific photo update! The details in the restaurant look amazing! Many items on the menu look wonderful, but the one thing that stood out was the Yak Attack. LOL! I feel that will be a must-try drink for me whenever I'm back in Orlando.

How very cool that you had a Joe Rohde sighting!!! I'm jealous, but in a good way. And I had no idea there was going to be a gift store attached. Some of those t-shirt designs look wicked cool to me. No doubt I'll drop a few dollars in the store too. Thanks again for the wonderful pictures!

Re: Yak and Yeti Review/Photos (over 100)

I usually wait to see things myself when I know I soon will, but I couldn't help myself with this one. I've recently learned that Imagineers went through and okay'd the design for all of this but it was done a lot with Laundry's.

Great photos. I looked at your pics on Mousesteps too. Usually I am not one for vegetables, but the ones your friend got looked really good. Of course I would probably have to get the chicken you had.

Two managers I spoke with said that it was a Landrys design team who did quite a bit of the work. I found it hard to believe (as the design is incredible), I have no idea who did what on the building! But it is beautiful, and I love all the artifacts.

I can recommend the chicken. I was thinking that there would be a heavy sauce over it (which I wouldn't have really liked), but it was a nice, light maple flavor.

Great pictures, but so far I just don't like this restaurant. Maybe it will be better in person. I just don't like the old run down look. I much prefer the fantasy adventure type stuff you see in Adventureland over the more realistic Animal Kingdom.

Disney has something for everyone. For myself, Animal Kingdom is absolutely a breathtaking park, I can never walk through it fast. There is always something to see. And Landrys put a TON of money into the restaurant, and it shows. I loved walking through it, the restaurant is like another attraction to me.

But not everyone feels the same way. I spend more time in Epcot than any other park (by far), because it's such a great walking park. And it's beautiful. But as for Yak and Yeti, the theming is perfect. However, I don't think the food is necessarily themed properly for the restaurant. The menu has not one Indian dish, though the restaurant has a combination of designs - including Indian. I'd like to see a wide variety of food, and more choices at counter service. And some shelter for those eating from counter service, as it's all open.

Re: Yak and Yeti Review/Photos (over 100)

Denise, thanks as always for the spectacular pics. I'm very jealous of you, your camera, and the time you have to devote to the parks.

Just a minor correction to a couple posts above (you got it right, Denise!) - Joe's last name is Rohde, not Rhode, and is pronounced ROE-dee (like rodeo without the o). And thanks for the pics of the merch - gotta get one of those Yak & Yeti sweatshirts!!!

Thanks! I actually spelled Joe's name wrong twice, so it's probably my fault! I can pronounce it properly, but the spelling throws me off every time.

I need to cut back in the New Year how much time I spend at Disney - it's been so fun having people enjoying the walks and photos. But I'm going to get a bunch of stuff up by then (Christmas and otherwise). And then 2 - 3x a month, do walks and updates, etc. It's gotten really expensive to keep going there, 3x this week! :-D But it's fun.

The sweatshirts were really nice! The shop is very narrow, so go when it's not crowded.
