Toy Story Mania, Contemporary, Jellyrolls, fireworks update pics

My Joomla is having issues this morning, and I couldn't put most of the fireworks photos up yet on my site. I wasn't even planning to see them last night, I just happened to be at the CR at the time (and almost didn't take photos either). But they came out okay.

The other pics (Toy Story Mania, etc.) are here: http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php?...d=34&Itemid=65

New Contemporary wall unveiled (which I don't personally think is that attractive):

Thanks. I didn't expect to take any, so they came out pretty good for being unplanned!

I want to get more Christmas pics in the Polynesian, it's my favorite resort - I just need to get there late in the evening, when it's not busy. The GF and WL too - Christmas lights just look better at night.

I do like the Poly a lot. I might rank the AKL and Boardwalk ahead of it but its close.

My family took us every year to the Polynesian when I was a kid/teenager. I've probably spent 80 - 90 nights of my life there, more when I was younger. I love the Boardwalk area, but there is something romantic and remote-feeling about the Polynesian, I always wished - as a teenager - for enough money to someday live there

I don't actually stay there much anymore - I just don't spend that kind of money on a hotel room (when I do have that much, it goes out of the country to Paris, but at a cheap family-run place)! Even though I stay at the Pop Century, my heart is at the Polynesian (and I do stop there fairly often). The Wilderness Lodge is my second choice - I always have wanted to live in a log home, and that is probably as close as I'm getting.

The AKL is great as well.

I hear ya. I do love the look and feel of the Poly. In fact, my upcoming trip I'm splitting time between the Poly and Boardwalk. I like being able to step out of my room and wander the Boardwalk at anytime. My wife's favorite part of our last trip was getting up early with my young son and enjoying some pastry at 730 in the morning.

Re: Toy Story Mania, Contemporary, Jellyrolls, fireworks update pics

The new Contemporary lobby is looking AMAZING - Can't wait to see it with furniture and the new Contemporary Grinds. It's defiantly going to be a lot more timeless than the previous Teal and Purple lobby - That being said, I did have a soft spot for the mid-90s crazy furniture and plastic walls.

The main things I want them to do after the Wave and Chef Mickey's is to replace the 80s structure of BVG and the now totally out of place lift for the Monorail Platform, complete with the faux industrial doors (the escalator foyer hasn't been touched since 1971 either). Brand new landscaping (Including you, Porte Cochere!) and Way Finding signage would also help the complete the transformation of this resort

The convention center is in a class of its own, though horribly misplaced, and they should leave it alone.

The lobby that had been uncovered until this past week is gorgeous. I didn't (at all) like what was uncovered this past week. I am hoping that something will go over those walls to make them look better.

As far as TSM - I haven't seen enough yet (just what is over the fence). I don't remember those bathrooms, but I'm sometimes very oblivious. Take the camera out of my hand, and I'm wandering aimlessly.

My money is either its so plain to contrast another part of the wall that hasn't been unveiled or on a large artwork, either a painting or something directly affixed to the wall, will probably go up - the material used is just too plain. If they were going to leave it blank, they would have used a stone material or something with a bit more substance.

Is the DCL model still there? I always used to get a kick out of the fact my two favorite Disney Hotels (GCH and Contemp) had matching models.

I would be eternally grateful if next time you could get some pictures from the other side of the lobby, i.e the back wall looking forward... People never seem to go down there for some reason.

One thing I don't like about those bathrooms is that they put in the new brick wall treatment but left the painfully obvious Art Deco porch on. If they were going to go the whole way with the Pixar Industrial theme, a new Glass and Steel one would have looked so much better.

If they weren't going to leave it as-is (somewhat), why all the texture in the walls? It's very odd looking. But I haven't looked at the lobby artwork lately, I need to do that. I emailed a friend of mine who is a CM at the CR, asking about the walls.

I actually have taken photos from both ends, though maybe not this time (I did take photos looking back, just not from all the way back by the bathrooms). I can do that again, this coming week.

I didn't even recall bathrooms there! But it's not an area of the Studios that I have spent much time at.

I'm not sure on the boat model - for some reason, I'm thinking I've seen it on the 4th floor. I can't say for sure, though. Someone else probably knows!

Here is one other photo which I sort of like:

It was funny, a guy came up to me as I was trying to get a photo - and was shocked at the level of zoom. I think he's going to buy a Canon.

I am guessing you mean the wall. It looked like tile of some sort, but it isn't touchable yet!

The ceiling, which looks almost like an upside-down wood dance floor, is some sort of metal (or aluminum, not sure if that is considered a metal or not).
