    Puttin' on the Rix

Check out the great little photo update that Jose Eber has provided of the new Rix Lounge and Cafe at Coronado Spring this link.

I think these two additions to the resort are excellent and certainly provides an excellent alternative to the Pepper Market.

Just don't try wearing sneakers. (to the lounge, I already have pics up of the other areas)

    "Stlyish Dress Required"

lol do not think I am dissing on my home town, but this is Orlando! lol

But maybe we should expect more from our tourists. IDK.

I know I personally hate telling people they 'won't fit in anywhere' But alas this is a 'lounge'

I will have to go check it out when I feel like going and hanging out in my work attire (business casual), though I do hope that I am stylish enough... My favorite dancer from the Lion King, has told me that I need to get some new threads....

I was glad not to be denied into the Cinderellas Royal Suite! (I was a little annoyed only because I was told earlier in the evening that there was no dress code at all). I actually do not own anything but sneakers and heels. Mostly I go casual - but if I dress up, I dress up!

maybe it's just me but this is in a moderate resort right? I can understand if this place was in a deluxe resort where " propper attire" might be required, but a moderate resort? We stayed recently at riverside and spent a couple of hours in the bar there and I don't remember anyone getting turned away, we even ate at the sitdown restaurant and didn't have any problems.

CSR is trying to be more upscale - it is a convention center. So I don't have an issue with it, as long as they make it clear.

The convention center crowd always asked if there was a hot spot near by, and by popular demand, Disney made it happen in the resort. Expect the other resorts to start adding these adult only areas in the wake of major changes to Pleasure Island.

Coronado Springs draws a very adult clientele, a high percentage is on business. I personally would not like to see a Rix type place at most other resorts, because it is trying to draw a PI crowd (including locals). It isn't something I would want at a resort that draws mostly families.

I'd much rather if they just concentrated all of this sort of stuff to Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney, & the new Western Way.

Pleasure Island isn't working as-is. I am not against bars, I really like the outdoor Laguna bar at the Coronado Springs, as well as places like Raglan Road, The Rose and Crown, and the Adventurers Club. What I personally don't think that Disney needs is tons of dance clubs with loud music.

I might be wrong, I'm just not sure that there is that big of a demand for it. I know that when I walked up to Rix at 1:30am, it was VERY loud. Maybe I'm just old, but I like a quiet lounge, or a nice band - again, Raglan Road has great entertainment. I do like to hear the people I'm with.

I do agree that should be an important focus of Parks & Resorts, but the conventions are key as well. Starwood is successfully bringing in a large number of conventioners to the property, but that isn't "Disney" so they are trying to change that.

I have not been to the Rix or much to this Resort before. Can anyone share their experience(s) with this? I'm thinking of stopping by and checking this out in a few weeks or is it not worth my time and I should just stick with PI and the Boardwalk/Jellys?

Have you been to Pleasure Island? Do you frequent the clubs? Just courious.

WDW is trying to change things a bit. Mind you they did this before with Jelly Rolls and Atlantic Dance over at the BoardWalk but this was due to a contractual obligation to the Swan and Dolphin.

That being said, I think that trying new things at the resorts is great. Rix is a lot like the lounges in Vegas. They are very popular and profitable (though they are not open every night of the week).

I love pleasure Island, but I am for more on property (meaning hotel specific) offerings. Anything that gives people incentive to stay on property is great!

There are kids who go to the clubs, just with their parents. (not that I like that so much, I think PI should be 18+, except for Raglan Road).

Ya Comedy Warehouse and AC are any age.

When I was at the Comedy Warehouse a few days ago, they were asking for a word that started with the letter 'P'

And a little girl (age 6ish) shouted out the word Pumpkin Pie.

It was cute, but that venue is really not for children. The look on the Actor's faces was priceless as you could see they realized how young their audience was and how they would have to tailor the song for the youngest memeber of the auidence.
