I've gained a few pounds back of the 80 I lost (that was over a 4 year period of time), so I figured it was time to train for something. Soooo...I signed up for the 15k. I've never done anything like it before, but a walk/run combination should at least get me over the finish line before the van picks everyone up. I hope!
I thought about it last year, but I had a "skipping" injury (pulled a muscle in my calf, that took 3 months to heal). Then I ended up going to Europe over that weekend.
Anyway, 4 months to train - it's not a big distance at least.
