Help planing a Vacation at WDW

I need some help planing a vacation to Walt Disney World, I have never been there and dont know where to start as in, what land to go to first, best place to stay and transportation while there and so on.

There will be 5 of us including 3 kids from 5 to 11 in November. Any advice would be great. Thanks all!

First I would suggest ordering the vacation planning DVD

As to where you should stay, etc, that really does depend on your budget.

Since you have 5 people, the standard rooms may not be big enough. I know one of the All-Stars offers kind of a family suite that would probably be big enough sleep wise.

Other than that, you can get suites at most of the deluxe hotels, but they will cost you.

November is usually a pretty good time to visit but of course, the closer you get to Thanksgiving, the busier it will get.

yeah, definitely order the vacation planning DVD... it will help ALOT.

If you are staying on property you want to take advantage of the Magical Express bus, which pick you and your party up at the airport and take you to your Disney hotel.

I used it last time and it was so helpful...

If staying off property doesn't bother you than I suggest renting a vacation home. They are faboulus when you have kids b/c you have a whole refrigerator and can have foods for breakfast there and dinner if you leave the parks early enough. It also is great for some down time if you get the pool heated etc.

I actually think staying on property is great if you want to use Magical Express and the EMH. But you can also stay at the Hilton at DD (very nice) and get EMH.

Off property, you can get a great place for much less money. It is less convenient, and you'd need a rental car.

Re: Help planing a Vacation at WDW

When I go back in December with family the big difference one of my family members focused on when it came to choosing which park to go first is which one would best give the kids a jaw dropping "oh my gaw" feeling.

Of course it was the Magic Kingdom. As for land in the MK we want to head down mainstreet, head through the castle and into Fantasyland. and then start exploring the rest of the lands by askign the kids going with us, "right or left". They pick which way to go and of course they will be very surprised at what they'll find either choosing "right" or "left".

As for resort a female family member help pretty much decide whether or not we'd stay in a value resort or a moderate resort. It came down to vanity sinks. Value resorts have one sink everyone must use whereas moderate resort rooms have 2 vanity sinks. This was a deal sealer for the female family members going in December of 08. With bigger family going I'd stick with moderate or value, save money and use what you would have spent on a bigger hotel on the theme park expenses such as food, gifts, toys, disney dollars, photos, ets.
