The DI Tree Houses to be Replaced

It has been discussed in another thread but I think this deserves its own.

As filed to the South Florida Water Management District, the Disney Institute Tree House Villas will be replaced and re-opened to guests. There is a strong possibility that the 60 units will be converted to DVC.

The proposed Villas will have the same 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom lay out as the existing units but will actually be a bit larger. While they will look very similar to the existing units, there will be a major ground level design change in the proposed units. There will be no ground floor in the existing units, about a 256 sq ft difference in area. Therefore, wetlands will actually be created rather than destroyed.

This is awesome news. We always loved staying in the treehouses. My favorite was the lower level since that's where I stayed though. But, to have them back will be a big plus. Hopefully they're not too outrageously priced.

I had a bad experience with the Tree Houses, the one we were in was full of bugs. Maybe eliminating the ground floor would fix this?

The bug situation we had was easily remedied by moving to the DI suites, I forget what the name of them is, I just seem to remember it had a kitchenette.

TOTALLY awesome news. Can't wait. I just hope the new ones are as unique as the old and aren't too corporate-ized. Woo hoo!

Not all of them have to be to ADA standards. The simplest but yet most complicated solution would be to build a ramp. However, it would have to be a very long ramp. Another solution would be to provide other accommodations for disabled guests and their families.

The easy solution is to not stay there

I think these would be fun to stay in. But I'll honestly say I don't know much about them other than what I've seen in pics.

We've floated by those when we stayed at the French Quarter and they look so cool. I would love to stay in them but something tells me they will be very expensive since there are only 60.

I would definitely stay there again! I expect a few of the treehouses would be ADA accessible, just as some of the cabins are. I don't mind mosquitos if I get to stay somewhere cool.

Now that the new CP housing opens this Summer and it'll mainly be International Students I really can see this finally happening. It should be interesting to see how these change or adapt with their "replacement."

I say we have a Mice Chat Treehouse Meet and split the cost. Would be a great experience and it wouldn't be that expensive if we all went in on it together.

Although, how many people will they sleep? LOL A 3 bedroom 2 bath could accomodate a nice group of us.
