Thank you danyoung. very nice
Space What?!
I have been to several theme parks throughout the country, and I can handle a lot of really intense stuff including wooden rollercoasters such as the legendary "The Beast" at Kings Island. If I can handle all that stuff, shouldn't I be able to handle what was once, a relatively tame coaster?
This ride used to be way smoother. If it was in great condition, than it wouldn't feel like it is falling apart.
I have it on very good authority that the ride has some major 'issues' with its operation.
While a disaster isn't imminent or even likely, the possibility of something bad happening is increasing the longer the ride remains in operation. I got dragged on by a friend in October after not riding in at least two years.
I survived. But there's no fun there. What was once an amazing, themed, cutting edge ride through the cosmos in pitch darkness is now very similar to some of the rides they set up at local fairs only stuck in a building with very cheesy special effects. Just a rough little coaster that almost feels like a Mad Mouse in a building so bright you could read a book while riding.
It is good to know this is going to be gutted soon. My only wish would be they do something different and not simply rebuild the current track, add sound to the rockets and add a few new effects.
It would be terrific if Space Mountain could be cutting edge again. The kind of ride where you get off and have a goofy thrilled look on your face and want to get right back in line, even if the line is an hour long ... like I used to do. With all that space imagine if they combined the two tracks into one longer, more thrilling experience.
The current ride isn't just in sorry shape, isn't just borderline dangerous ... no, it's also no damn fun except for folks who believe change at WDW is a bad thing.
question... how old are you?
not only that.. no kidding... its the ORIGINAL from the 70's unchanged. If you dont like it.. dont ride it.. or how about saying 'no' when your friend "drags" you onto the ride. it is ok to say no...
pretty simple im my case..
but again.. you say you have good authority... but theres not proof.
and if your looking for something thats wild and thrilling... universal and sea world are only a few min away....
Space What?!
HAHAHA I laughed out loud when you said you found a turkey leg!
Space Mountain's tracks aren't as smooth as they used to be, but the ride has always jerked you around a bit. It's just supposed to do that. I do wish they'd smooth out the ride some, though. I enjoy it but not as much as I enjoy Thunder. (I just prefer outside coasters, though.) However, I do wish they would include a separate sign stating that the ride has strobes. I have several friends and a twin sister who suffer from migraines - many migraine sufferers have severe sensitivity to strobes, even if they aren't suffering from headaches at the time.
I still love riding Space Mountain - I rode it again last week, and had a GREAT time. No complaints here.
I love Space Mountain, but I never really knew what it COULD be until I rode SM in Disneyland. I would love to see WDW's SM refurbished similarly.
i have found bras before...dont know why they were taken off, but they have been found. Cell phones with pornography on them are very common. A few weeks ago, we had a guest loose their bag with cell phones, passports, ID's, medication, and $9,000 in cash. We cycled the ride down and looked on track fo an hour and still didnt find it. At the end of the night security managers and all the attractions managers walked track again with us and we found it.
what exactly is an unresetable 101? im guessing you mean unresetable ADI ? lol
lately all of our breakdowns have been cast related - not storing trains and cascading, etc... we even had a lovely double e-stop for a signal 8 (missing person in ride path), but the tower cast memeber failed to e-stop immediately....biiiig safety reprimand!! wooo!!
and to address the ride issue, parts are in fact falling off now....small parts. it has been determined in some cases that the ride was at fault, and other times that it was lost and found items falling from above. a refurb in inevitable at this point. every week were having indistrial engineers and imagineers taking notes, riding, and observing operations....that is definately a good sign. and dont worry, the track will be smooth again....and there will be new audio double seater trains.....and new soundtrack....so much. All they can tell me about the ride itself is that its going to be amazing!! very "out of this world" .....ill keep y'all posted![]()
Yes space junk i meant unresetable adi lol so what! its been a while haha. Yeah when i was working there we had a few signal 8's but not when i was acutally working! dumb. haha, one shift we came in at 3pm, had a double E stop from something... i was on a bucket for a while so i decided to help out. took us about 3 hours to power back up because something kept e stopping both sides after we would get it all reset hah. good times there.
Space What?!
i love days like that....whenever we have trouble resetting after an e-stop, its usually the A-side storagr out table or the B-side storage in table....or....sometimes the lower lift on a-side will APD itself....weirdness
did u ever get to go in the cage?? or the post show backstage where the old RCA home of the future is?? its awesome, but only us hardcore mountaineers know about it lol![]()
yes, yes i did.. very good times there...
how about this.. did you ever get to go on top of space (the roof) and watch wishes and/or Holiday wishes??![]()
only Royal Mountaineers got that treat lol
