It's a Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah...Tip for Today!
I shall call it the Tragic Tower from this point on. Destroys the look of the Contemporary complex, the view of bay Lake from the monorails, the background view of Tomorrowland, and the wallets of some poor souls belonging to this time share program.
I think it will give more pipping pervs the reason needed to go parasailing
on Bay Lake.
That is my problem with it, and the look of the building does not match the main tower. It's a bland looking as your average furnace in Staten Island.I actually don't like the height on it, I'd rather have seen a much smaller building (like before) flanking the main tower.
Peeping pervs, yes?
I've actually seen quite interesting things from the boat passing the Contemporary (yes, if it's dark and your curtains are open and lights are on - we CAN see you in your underwear!)
I agree on not matching the main tower. AND, will the main building still even be called the tower anymore? But, we'll see how it looks next year when fully done.
HAHAHAHA!! Another classic TDLFAN typo!!!![]()
Besides being able to be seen from the Magic Kingdom, you're also clearly able to see this from Fort Wilderness which just irks me beyond belief. I loved that Fort Wilderness was so separated from everything. You can see the Wilderness Lodge, but it is themed appropriately. But, you had to get on the boat and proceed around Discovery Island to see the Contemporary before. Now it's BAM - right there.
I'm really disappointed in a lot of the sight line issues that have come up in recent years. Walt took immense steps to prevent the illusion of theme from being destroyed and now Disney is doing it themselves.![]()

Truly shocking news ... I, for one, didn't see this coming years ago.
And don't think there will ever be DVC at Poly and GF ... never going to happen!
Why not? I would have thought the same thing about the Contemporary.
I also never thought they would sell off land to outside developers, bring McDonald's into the theme parks, build generic chain stores at Downtown Disney, build a loud as all heck race track in the Magic Kingdom parking lot, or desecrate Alien Encounter. But, they have.
At this point, anything is fair game. It wouldn't surprise me if they tore down the Poly and built a brand new DVC resort in its place.

Does anyone else think its only a matter of time untill the tower has a twin on the South side of the Contemporary? If some one has some spare time they should photoshop the leaked concept art onto both sides of the Contemporary, it might look a little better balanced out that way. I'm sure this is what the future holds anyway. I just can't imagine Disney not doing the same to the South wing.
